MOORMAN CLERK OF COUNCIL JAMES G. MOSELEY TREASURER HARRY L. SNEAD CITY ATTORNEY February 15, 1955 Your letter of the 3rd. inst. with reference to the sewage treatment of the Ettrick Sanitary District was duly received. I could not answer the same until the matter had been taken up with the City Council. This was done last night and the following reply to your letter was authorized. It is our opinion that the only comprehensive way to negotiate in this matter would be based upon a definite amount for the capital outlay and a definite amount for the sewage treatment, and to that end, we would be willing to enter into a contract similar to that which we now have with the Virginia State College which would provide in part the following figures: (1) Your pro-rata part of capital ou.lay for the original construction of the trunk line from Ettrick to sewage disposal plant and the disposal plant itself including one main pumping station but excluding your cost of connection to our line at the nearest point in Ettrick and your sewage meter, 30,000.00 (2) Your cost of treatment would be the same as now paid by the Virginia State College which is 5.70 per thousand gallon of sewage metered through your meter. (3) Any damarres caused by floods, Acts of God or causes beyond the City's control can be pro -rated between City, State College and Sanitary District according to sewage metered. (4) If a reement reached, the same to include Ettrick Sanitary District as it now exists only.
