SESSION <br /> <br /> <br />COUNTY ADMINSTRATOR’S COMMENTS <br /> <br />? <br /> <br /> Mr. Bob Crum, Executive Director and Ms. Barbara Nelson, Principal <br />Planner with the Richmond Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, <br />updated the Board on the MPO’s regional priority Transportation Plan for <br />the MPO study area. <br /> <br />? <br /> <br />Mr. Stegmaier was pleased to report that the Police Department was <br />selected as one of 30 finalists for the 2011 Secretary of Defense Employer <br />Support Freedom Award. <br /> <br />? <br /> <br />Mr. Stegmaier announced several Economic Development successes. He <br />reported that Uptown Alley held a ground breaking ceremony yesterday at <br />the Commonwealth Center and Shoosmith Brothers held a ribbon cutting <br />today for its new recycling center off Lewis Road in Chester. He also <br />announced that the Greater Richmond Aquatics Partnership took delivery <br />of a 50-meter swimming pool built for and last used in the 2008 Olympics <br />trials. The pool, which was home to nine world records during the '08 <br />trials, will be the centerpiece of a three-pool complex being constructed at <br />Ukrop Park in Chesterfield County. He also reported that Emerson <br />Ecologics, LLC, the leading provider of professional-grade nutritional <br />supplements to the healthcare practitioner market, will invest $1 million to <br />open a distribution facility in Chesterfield County at the Inter-Change at <br />Walthall. The project will create 60 new jobs and marks Emerson <br />Ecologics’ first operation in Virginia. <br /> <br /> <br />RESOLUTIONS <br /> <br />Adopted Resolution recognizing Mrs. Liess van der Linden-Brusse for her <br />outstanding service as President of the Chesterfield Historical <br />Society. <br /> <br />Adopted Resolution recognizing Hoover & Strong, Incorporated, the 2011 <br />Community Impact Award winner. <br /> <br />Adopted <br />Resolution recognizing Priority Automotive, the 2011 Employee <br />Impact Award winner. <br /> 1 <br /> <br />
