2. COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR'S COMMENTS <br />2.B. RICHMOND AREA METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION <br />PRESENTATION <br />0 <br />0 <br />0 <br />Mr. Bob Crum, Executive Director and Ms. Barbara Nelson, <br />Principal Planner with the Richmond Area Metropolitan <br />Planning Organization, updated the Board on the MPO's <br />regional priority Transportation Plan for the MPO study area. <br />Mr. Warren commended Ms. Nelson on the wonderful presentation <br />and overview. He expressed appreciation to those Board <br />members that serve on the MPO. <br />Ms. Jaeckle thanked the knowledgeable staff of the MPO. <br />2.A. COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT <br />• Mr. Stegmaier was pleased to report that the Police <br />Department was selected as one of 30 finalists for the <br />2011 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom <br />Award. <br />Mr. Warren commended the Police Department on the outstanding <br />accomplishment. <br />• Mr. Stegmaier announced that Uptown Alley held a ground <br />breaking ceremony yesterday at the Commonwealth Center, <br />and Shoosmith Brothers held a ribbon cutting today for <br />its new recycling center off Lewis Road in Chester. He <br />also announced that the Greater Richmond Aquatics <br />Partnership took delivery of a 50-meter swimming pool <br />built for and last used in the 2008 Olympic trials. He <br />stated the pool, which was home to nine world records <br />during the 2008 trials, will be the centerpiece of a <br />three-pool complex being constructed at Ukrop Park in <br />Chesterfield County. He also reported that Emerson <br />Ecologics, LLC, the leading provider of professional- <br />grade nutritional supplements to the healthcare <br />practitioner market, will invest $1 million to open a <br />distribution facility in Chesterfield County at the <br />Inter-Change at Walthall. He stated the project will <br />create 60 new jobs and marks Emerson Ecologics' first <br />operation in Virginia. <br />Mr. Warren recognized Mr. Will Davis and his staff for the <br />economic development initiatives. <br />3. BOARD MEMBER REPORTS <br />Ms. Durfee announced she attended the Uptown Alley ground <br />breaking yesterday. She stated the Board worked very closely <br />together collaborating with the community leaders, the <br />stakeholders and Mr. Steve Uphoff and his staff. She further <br />stated there are many people looking forward to the opening <br />of Uptown Alley. <br />Mr. Holland stated the new Aquatic Center will spur other <br />investments in Chesterfield. He reported that he attended the <br />ribbon cutting at the new recycling center at Shoosmith. In <br />regards to the ZIP Code status, he announced that <br />11-365 <br />06/15/11 <br />
