SESSION <br /> <br /> <br />COUNTY ADMINSTRATOR’S COMMENTS <br /> <br />Mr. Stegmaier was pleased to report that the Midlothian area was named one of the top ten <br />suburbs in the United States by CNBC. <br /> <br />Mr. Stegmaier announced that on September 8, 2011, Captain Jerry Pruden, Lieutenant Jake <br />Britt, Firefighters Gene Ledlie and Bryce Ford responded to Westmoreland County to assist with <br />on-going rescue operations from flash flooding. He provided details of their efforts to rescue a <br />citizen, a firefighter, and a rescue squad member. <br /> <br />Mr. Stegmaier also announced that Mr. Rick Witt has been selected as the county’s new Director <br />of Building Inspection, and Mr. Ron Clements has been appointed Assistant Director of Building <br />Inspection. <br /> <br />Mr. Stegmaier presented a Hurricane Irene follow up, stating that the Building Inspection <br />Department has issued 194 building permits for storm damage repairs and 30 electrical permits <br />free of charge. <br /> <br />Mr. Stegmaier provided an update on the revitalization of Cloverleaf Mall. He recognized Mr. <br />James Downs, Retail Vice President of the county’s development partners, Crosland Southeast, <br />and Fenton Childers, Kroger’s Real Estate Manager for the Mid-Atlantic Region. <br /> <br />BOARD MEMBER REPORTS <br /> <br />Mr. Holland reported that he attended a meeting at the Irongate Civic Association on September <br />th <br />15, regarding concerns related to the aftermath of Hurricane Irene. He announced that he will <br />be speaking to the Highlands Neighborhood Association regarding road <br />th <br />improvements/developments in the Highlands area on September 27 at 6:30 p.m. He also <br />announced that the Dale and Matoaca District will hold a joint citizen input meeting regarding <br />th <br />the Draft Comprehensive Plan on September 26 at 6:30 p.m. and a community meeting <br />th <br />regarding economic development on October 24 at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />th <br />Ms. Durfee reported that on September 26, there will be a joint Matoaca and Dale District <br />citizen input meeting regarding the Draft Comprehensive Plan at 7:00 p.m. in the Public Meeting <br />th <br />Room. She announced she will be holding a rescheduled roundtable meeting on October 4 at <br />6:30 p.m. at Cosby High School. She also announced the Matoaca District will hold a <br />th <br />community meeting at the Ettrick-Matoaca Library on September 27 at 6:30 p.m., to discuss <br />library renovations. <br /> 1 <br /> <br />
