CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mr. Colbert called the regularly scheduled meeting to order at <br />7:00 p.m. at the Midlothian Middle School auditorium. <br /> <br />2. INVOCATION <br /> <br />Mr. Colbert introduced Reverend John Royer, Pastor of Pioneer <br />Baptist Church, who gave the invocation. <br /> <br />3. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF <br /> <br /> AMERICA <br /> <br />Mr. Ramsey led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the <br />United States of America. <br /> <br />4. PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER APPLICANTS FOR APPOINTMENT <br /> MIDLOTHIAN DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD REPRESENTATIVE <br /> <br />Mr. Colbert stated this date and time has been advertised for <br />a public hearing to identify those individuals who wish to be <br />considered for appointment to the School Board from the <br />Midlothian Magisterial District and to accept public comment <br />regarding their qualifications. He further stated the public <br />hearing process for School Board representatives is in <br />accordance with the Chesterfield County Charter as approved by <br />County voters in a referendum in 1986, adopted by the General <br />Assembly in 1987, and which became effective January 1, 1988. <br />He then introduced Mr. Barber. <br /> <br />Mr. Barber stated this public hearing is an opportunity for <br />those individuals representing Midlothian District to present <br />themselves in an effort to serve their community. He further <br />stated he feels education of children is a top priority and his <br />nomination will be based on who he feels is the best person to <br />represent Midlothian District. He stated his decision will not <br />be based on political partisanship and it is the responsibility <br />of the Board to select the best. candidate to represent <br />Midlothian District. <br /> <br />Mr. Colbert then outlined the criteria for those individuals <br />seeking the appointment, requested candidates wishing to be <br />considered to sign in, and explained the procedure by which <br />each candidate would be called to present himself/herself. He <br />stated those individuals seeking the appointment must be a <br />resident and qualified voter of the Midlothian District. He <br /> <br />94-346 4/28/94 <br /> <br /> <br />
