SESSION <br /> <br /> <br />COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR’S COMMENTS <br /> <br />? <br /> <br />Mr. Stegmaier introduced Mr. Scott Smedley, the new Director of the Department of <br />Environmental Engineering. <br /> <br />? <br /> <br />Mr. Stegmaier was pleased to report that the Chesterfield County Public Library <br />(CCPL) has been named a Finalist for the 19th Annual National Medal for Museums <br />and Library Service. The National Medal is the nation’s highest honor conferred on <br />museums and libraries by the Institute for Museum and Library Services in recognition <br />of service to the community and for making a difference in the lives of individuals, <br />families, and communities. <br /> <br />? <br /> <br />Mr. Stegmaier announced that staff continues to work diligently on the implementation <br />of the Comprehensive Plan. Several items have now been completed, to include the <br />coordination of public facilities with the CIP and the identification of the properties <br />zoned contrary to the recommendations of the land use plan. Staff work is also <br />complete on the Bridge the Gap ordinances, which have been recommended by the <br />Planning Commission and will be coming before the Board soon. <br /> <br />? <br /> <br />Mr. Stegmaier was pleased to report continued progress on the Board’s goal – To be <br />Responsible Protectors of the Environment. The county’s Fleet Management Division <br />was recently re-certified ISO 14001:2004 compliant. In addition, the Fleet Management <br />Division also recently was recognized by the Virginia Environmental Excellence <br />Program (VEEP) for achieving the E4 level, which is the highest level of Extraordinary <br />Environmental Enterprise. <br /> <br />Ms. Mary Ann Curtin provided an update to the Board on recent activity at the General <br />Assembly. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />Adopted Resolution recognizing Mr. Richard M. McElfish, Director of <br />Environmental Engineering, upon his retirement. <br /> <br />WORK SESSIONS <br /> <br />A Work Session was held regarding the Southeast High Speed Rail Project Update. <br /> <br /> 1 <br /> <br />
