<br />On motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by Mr. Aoperson, it is resolved that the minutes
<br />of January 13, 1965, be, and they her~eby are approved.

<br />Ordinance be and it hereby is adopted: . ~person, it is resolved that the following
<br />
<br /> AN ORDINANCE to require the owners of property in Chesterfield
<br />County to remove therefrom any and all trash, garbage, refuse, litter a~d other
<br />substance which might endan~er the health of other residents of such Co~nty; to
<br />reguire~ owners of vacant property within the bounds of platted subdivisions to
<br />cut the. grass, weeds, and other foreign growth of s~ch property; to provide for
<br />the removal thereof and the cutting of such grass, weeds and other foreign growth
<br />by the County if the owner fails to do so, in which event the costs or expenses
<br />shall be charged to and paid by the owner of such property and collected by the
<br />County as taxes and levies are collected; and to provide that such costs for
<br />failing to remove trash, garbage, refuse, litter and other substances and failing
<br />to cut weeds, grass and ~her foreign growth shall be a lien on such property.
<br />
<br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CHESTERFIELD COgNTY, VIRGINIA:
<br />
<br /> 1. That the owners of property within the County cT Chesterfield upon being
<br />notified thereof by the Executive Secretary of the County to remove any and all
<br />trash, garbage, refuse, littler and other substance which might endanger the healt~
<br />of the other residents of such County are required to do so, and if such trash',
<br />garbage, refuse, litter and other substances are not removed by the owner after
<br />being notified to do so then the Executive Secretary of the County of Chesterfield~
<br />is authorized to have the same removed, in which event the costs or expenses
<br />thereof shall be chargeable to ~nd paid by the owner of such property.
<br />
<br /> 2. That the owners of vacant property within the boundaries of platted
<br />subdivisions in the County of Chesterfield shall cut the grqss, weeds an~ other
<br />foreign growth on such property w~enever such owners are directed to do so by the
<br />Executive $_ecretary of this County. If the owner of such property after reason-
<br />able notice to cut the grass, weeds and other foreign growth on his property fails
<br />~o do so, then the Executive Secretary is authorized to have such grass, weeds or
<br />other foreign growth cut by 'County employees, in which event the costs and expenses
<br />thereof shall be chargeable to and paid by the owner of such property.
<br />
<br /> 5. That every charge authorized by this ordinance w~th which the owner of
<br />any such property shall h~ve been assessed and which remains unpaid shall constitu~te
<br />a lien against such property. If the owner of such property fails to pay the ~
<br />costs and expenses, they shall be collected ~y the Treasurer of the County in the
<br />same manner as taxes and levies are collected. The Executive Secretary shall
<br />certify the costs and expenses to the Treasurer of the County who shall collect
<br />such amount, and if such amount shall remain unapid for a period of sixty days,
<br />then the Treasurer of the County shall certify such charges as being unpaid to the
<br />Clerk of the Circuit ~ourt of Chesterfield County who shall maintain a record book
<br />of such delinquent costs and expenses on file in the records of his office.
<br />
<br />This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after its enactment as prescribedl
<br />~y law.
