Martin <br /> <br />VIRGINIA: At an adjourned meeting of the <br />Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County, <br />held at the Courthouse on June 15, 1965, at <br />8:00 p.m. <br /> <br />I~. Ernest P.Gates~ Comm. Atty. <br />~. Howard A. ,ayo, Jr. Co. Planner <br />Mr. Robt. A.Painter, Co. Engineer <br />Mr. M.W.Burnett, Exec. Sec'y. <br /> <br />This is the time set for a public meeting to discuss the proposed Vendors Tax and <br />contemplated budget for the year ending June 30, 1966. The Chairman makes a <br />brief' statement to the effect theft the County has had several questions raised <br />as to the legality of a Vendors Tax~ that no action would be taken on eihherthe <br />proposed tax or the proposed budget. <br />Several citizens speak for and against the Vendors Tax. The Retail Merchants <br />Association offered its legal staff to aid the County in its legal dilemma. <br />?;hereupon, it was ~enerally agreed that this meeting be continued to Monday <br />June 21, 1965, at ~:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Reconvening after a brief recess - it is on motion of Mt.Browning, seconded .by <br />Mr. App~rson, resolved that the Treasurer of the County be and he hereby is requested <br />to transfer the sum of ~265.00%~o .the Ettrick Sanitary Distri¢'t Debt Fund from the <br />unappropriated surplus of said Fund. <br /> <br />On motion of ~r. Apperson, seconded by Mr.Goyne, it is resolYed that the Purchasing <br />Agent be and he hereby is authorized to purdhase certain fire hose for the Chester <br />Volunteer Fire DeDartment. <br /> <br />Mt. Robert Painter, County Engineer, comes before the Board stating that b~ds had <br />been received for the construction of the dam at the Swift Creek Reservoir and <br />recommended that the bid be awarded to the English Construction Company who <br />submitted an est~ated total bid of ~282,500.O0, the lowest of six bids received; <br />Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr. Brittom, seconded by Mr.Apperson~ <br />it is resolved that since the estimated cost of building the Swift Creek dam had <br />been somewhat higher, that t~e bid received from the English Construction Company <br />in the estimated amount of ~282~500.00 including alternates, be, and it hereby is <br />ac~'epted. <br /> <br />On motion of Mt. Browning, seconded by Mr.Apperson, it is resolved that the Board <br />of Sunervisors agrees to contract w~th the City of Colonial Heights to have the <br />city treat and dispose of the sewage originating in the area of the County <br />generally d'escribed as, starting at a point on River Road, thence in a northwesterly <br />direction along a line 200 feet southwest on and parallel to Dupuy Road to the <br />Atlantic Coast Line RR.,thence in a southwesterly direction along the Atlantic <br />Coast Line RR.to the EttrickSanitary District line, thence in a southwesterly <br />direction along the Sanitary District Line to River Road, thence ~/ong River Road <br />to the point of beei'nning, for the sum of 70¢ per connection per month. <br />The Chairman and Clerk of this Board are authorized to sign an agreement with <br />the City of Colonial HeiKhts when said a~reement is approved as to form by the <br />Commonwealth's Attorney of the ~ounty. <br /> <br />There arose a discussion concerning the vending machines in the County lunchroom. <br />On motion of Mr. Browning, seconded by Mt.Martin, it is resolved that this Board <br />authorizes the vending machines toremain in the County's lunchroom until further <br />noti ce. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Britton, seconded b?
