Retail <br />MerchaDt License <br /> <br />10o00 <br /> <br />Frederick M.Dabney <br />7424 Cherokee Road <br />Richmond, Va. <br /> <br />1966 Personal Property & <br />County Capitation Tax <br /> <br />38.12 <br /> <br />Mr. J.J.Jewett, representing the citizens in the Salisbury Subdivision heads a <br />delegation of fourteen people requesting the County to install water mains to the <br />first section of the subdivision of Salisbury, which was developed on private <br />wells since no County water was available. <br />Mr.J.K.Timmons urges the Board ~o grant the request and states that 26 people will <br />connect immediately at $300.00 a connection and 36 vacant lots owned by various <br />people will ultimately be connected. <br />Mr. Martin cites the great potential growth in the area; the beauty and high value <br />of the homes and speaks generally for the project. <br />Mr. Painter presents the cost of the project which will be approximately $22,000.O~. <br />Mr. Homer explains that the actual cost after ten years will be approximately <br />$9500.00, less the cost of the sale of water to the various customers for a:lO-year <br />period. .' <br />Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by Mr. Martin, <br />it is re~olved that the County Engineer be authorized to install water lines in th& <br />first section of Salisbury as proposed by the County Engineer, provided the <br />citizens of Salisbury pay one-half of the cost of the installation of fire hydrants, <br />and the County's General Fund to pay one-half the said cost according to County <br />policy. <br /> <br />There was read a notice that Rt.668, from the intersection of Rts. 604 and 668 to <br />.568 of a mile south of Rt.668 had been discontinued formally by the Highway <br />Department as per a resolution of the Board of Supervism"s of June 8, 1966. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Aoperson, seconded by Mr.Britton, it is resolved that this Board <br />requests the Highway Department to maintain Rt.668 in a similar condition as <br />adjacent County roads and to bill the County of Chesterfield for this cost. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr.Britton, seconded by Mr. Martin, it is resolved that this Board <br />requests tbs Highway Department to clean the ditches in Raleigh Court area, <br />Woodstock Subdivision and south of Wainwright Drive and to bill the County for' the <br />cost of this work. <br /> <br />On ~otion of Mr.Martin, seconded by Mr. Apperson, it is resolved that this Board <br />reoQuests the Highway Department to improve the lO-ft roadway leading from Butte <br />Roa~ to the property of Mr. Tom ~ice and adjacent to t~e property of Mrs. ~happellel <br />and charge the improvement to the 3¢ Road Fund of the County. <br /> <br />The Board received letters of thanks for improving Jean Drive and Atmore Drive, <br />which were filed with the papers of this Board. <br /> <br />A letter was received from the Highway Department stating that the request for the <br />fire department to have a signal light placed at the intersection of Dundas Road <br />and Route #l to facilitate the routing of the fire engine was denied. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Goyne, seconded by Mr. Browning, it is resolved that this Board <br />requests the Highway Department to install a "Stop and Go "traffic light at the <br />intersection of Dundas Road and Route #l. <br /> <br />Whereas, the State Highway Department has amreed to improve Cofer Road by the use <br />of Industrial Access Funds, and <br /> <br />Whereas, a preliminary investigation shows that the cost of acquiring additional <br />rights of way necessary for said improvement, are quite extensive, and <br /> <br />Whereas, the topography of the land would not require excessive cuts or fills <br />so that a 60-ft. right of way is not necessary, <br /> <br />Now, Therefore, Be it Resolved, on motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by Mr.Apperson, <br />theft this Board requests the Highway Department to reduce the requested 60-ft. <br />right of way to 50-ft. right of way along Cofer Road, from Rt.6~7 eastwardly <br />to the property of the Atlantic Coast Line RR. and the County agrees to acquire <br />a 60-ft. right of way from said point eastwardly to the Atlantic Coast Line RR. <br /> <br /> <br />
