Ranrsey Summary of Actions Taken by the Board on November 12, 2003 4:00 P.M. SESSION COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR'S COMMENTS Ms. Joan Salvati, Water Quality Administrator, presented information regarding the outline of a proposed report on Methyl Tertiary-Butyl Ether (MtBE) in Chesterfield County. Approved Tentative public hearing date of February 2004 to consider the effects of Methyl Tertiary-Butyl Ether (MtBE) on the county's water supply. Mr. Bradford Armstrong, President and CEO of the Virginia Performing Arts Foundation, Mr. Mike Watkins, Chairman, Greater Richmond Hotel/Motel Association, and Mr. Larry Brown, President, School of the Performing Arts in the Richmond Community (SPARC) presented a report on the activities of their respective organizations relating to the proposed Performing Arts Center and requested county support for funding for the center. They were also joined by Bill Baxter of the Retail Merchants Association and Jack Berry of the Richmond Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau. RESOLUTIONS AND SPECIAL RECOGNITIONS Adopted Resolution recognizing employees for their efforts related to Hurricane Isabel. Note: Ms. Nancy Finch, Chairman of the Chesterfield Business Council (CBC), also presented the county with a resolution adopted by the CBC commending county employees for the assistance they provided to citizens and businesses during and following Hurricane Isabel. Adopted Resolution recognizing Ms. Alyson Smith for outstanding community support related to Hurricane Isabel. Adopted Resolution recognizing county residents for their efforts related to Hurricane Isabel. WORK SESSIONS A work session was held regarding the proposed Subdivision Connectivity Policy. Deferred until December 17, 2003 Adoption of proposed Subdivision Connectivity Policy. Approved Transfer of District Improvement Funds from the Clover Hill District Improvement Fund to the School Board to fund the Center for the Humanities at Monacan High School. ADDED BY UNANIMOUS CONSENT Adopted Resolution recognizing Mr. Johnny Oates by naming the varsity baseball field at Bird High School in his honor. Adopted Resolution recognizing Mr. Eddie N. Moore, Jr., President of Virginia State University, for ten years of outstanding service. Approved Conveyance of easement to Columbia Gas Transmission Corporation. Approved Transfer of District Improvement Funds from the Bermuda District Improvement Fund to the Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Christmas Mother, Incorporated to purchase food, toys and clothing for needy families. 4 Approved Transfer of District Improvement Funds from the Bermuda District Improvement Fund to the Parks and Recreation Department to purchase equipment and landscaping materials for the county-owned "Lowe Soccer Complex." Approved Transfer of District Improvement Funds from the Bermuda District Improvement Fund to Henricus Foundation to pay for brochures and an educational exhibit at Henricus Park. Approved Transfer of District Improvement Funds from the Bermuda District Improvement Fund to the Industrial Development Authority for the benefit of The Friends of Chesterfield's Riverfront, Incorporated 1) to develop educational programs with Chesterfield County Public Schools concerning the James River Riverfront and 2) to acquire conservation and greenways easements for the James River Greenway from Falling Creek to Dutch Gap. Approved Transfer of District Improvement Funds from the Bermuda District Improvement Fund to the Chesterfield County Historical Society to construct a 1781 soldiers' hut at Castlewood and to purchase educational equipment to further Virginia Standards of Learning ("SOL") on the Revolutionary War. Approved Transfer of District Improvement Funds from the Bermuda District Improvement Fund to the Chesterfield County Library to provide library materials to support the Families First initiative at the Chester and Enon Libraries. Approved Recognition of county employees for exemplary service and volunteerism during the recent Hurricane Isabel disaster by revising the 2003 Holiday Schedule to include an additional holiday.
