VIRGINIA: At an adjourned meeting of the <br /> Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield <br /> County, held at the Courthouse on <br /> April 23, 1964, at 2:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mr. H.T.Goyne, Chairman <br />Mr. Irvin G.Horner <br />Mr. R. J ~Britton <br />Mr. J.Ruffin Apperson <br />Ur.herbert O.Browning <br />~ir. A .R .Martin <br /> <br />Messrs. Floyd Gibbs, Randolph Perrow, Rigsby and Runyon of the Virginia Electric <br />and Power Company present to the County an Industrial Survey recently published <br />by the Virginia Electric & Power Company and explained to the Board the advantages <br />of such a compilation of industrial sites. ~nereupon the Chairman thanked <br />the Virginia Electric & Power Company's Officials for their interest and help <br />in the industrialization of Chesterfield County. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Apperson, seconded by Mr. Horner,.it is resolved that this Board <br />accepts a deed from Mr.%';illiam L.Thurston, Sr. , for the widening of Thurston <br />Road. <br /> <br />The Chairman states that this the advertised hour for a public hearing on a <br />proposed changein the Dog Ordinance. Aoproximately seventy-five people appeared <br />to support the passage of more controls on dogs running at large. Various views <br />were cited and s-ggestions given as to how this could be accomplished. <br />The Commonwealth's Attorney states that this is ~s far as the County can go under <br />the present State law. <br />Upon consideration of the arguments presented and the discussion of the Board, <br />it is on motion of Mr.Aoperson, seconded by Mr. Martin, resolved that the following <br />Ordinance be and it hereby is adopted: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE, to amend the Code of the County of Chesterfield, <br />Virginia, Chapter 2, Section 2-5.1, controlling the running at <br />large of dogs during the period May 1 to September 15 of each <br />year by ~eadopting Section 2-5.1, as amended, to prohibit the <br />running at large of dogs anytime after having been notified as <br />prescribed by certain persons that the owner's dog is running <br />at large. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE g~UNTY OF <br />CHESTERFIELD, VIRGINIA <br /> <br /> 1. That Chapter 2, Section 2-5.1 of the Code of the County of Chester- <br />field, Virginia, be repealed and readopted as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 2-5.1. ---Running at large. <br /> <br /> Any owner after having been notified in writing by any landowner, game <br />warden, dog warden, or other officer of the law, either by registered or certified <br />mail addressed to the address of the owner of such dog, or by service of notice <br />b{T an officer of the law, that his dog is running at large, it shall be unlawful <br />for the said o~ner of such dog to permit such dog to run at large within the <br />County. <br /> <br /> Any person violating this section shall be punished by a fine of not <br />less than five nor more than twenty-five dollars. <br /> <br /> This ordinance shall be in full force and effect after its enactment <br />as prescribed by law. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Apperson, seconded by Mr.Martin, it is resolved that the following <br />Ordinance be and it hereby is adopted: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE to amend the Code of' the County of Chesterfield, <br />Virginia, Chapter 2, Section 2-11, requiring licenses for dogs, by <br />readopting Section 2-11 to change the age requirement for ~btaining <br />a dog license from four months to six months. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDA1NED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF <br />CHESTERFIELD, VIRGINIA: <br /> <br /> 1. ThAt Chapter 2, Section 2-11, of The Code of the County of <br />Chesterfield, Virginia, be repealed and readopted as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 2-11. Required; term; fees. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person to own a do~ six months old or over, <br />unless such dog is licensed, as required by this division. Dog licenses shall <br />run by the calendar year from January first to December thirtyOfirst, inclusive, <br />and the license tax shall be payable at the office of the Treasurer of the County <br />and shall be as follows: <br /> <br /> <br />
