This lette~ cited the 'fact that the State Highway Commission would give consideration, to the improvement of Rt. 10 from the Courthouse northwardly. This letter is ordered received and filed. On motion of Mr. Britton, se~onded by Mr. Hague, it is resolved that this Board request the Hl~n~ay Department to improve Grant Road, at a cost mo~ tO exceed $600.00. And be it further resolved that the foregoing resolution be sent to the Highway Department upon receipt of one-half of the cost from the citizens of the area. On motion of Mr.Britton. seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that this Board request the Department of Highways to take Cherokee Road, Rt.?04. into its Federal Aid Secondary Road System. It iS here notedthat Cherokee Road runs fron $chmitt's'$tore to Bosher's Dam. This day Mr. J. R~ndolph Perrow, from the Virginie Elctric & Powe~ Company, Industrial Department, presented to the Board of Supervisors an tn~strial survey showing industrial si~es in the County of Chesterfield. This day the Executive Secretary read a letter from Mr. Dennis Henderson, requestin permission to again operate the open-air theater in the V~illage of Ghester, which letter was o~dered received and file~. A letter was received from Mr..J.Gordon Bennett, Auditor of Public Accounts, stating that the Audit of the County of. Chesterfield for th~ fiscal year ending June 30, 1955, made by the A.M.To.ler Company, had b.een approved by the. Auditor of Public Accounts. On motion of Mr. Hague. seconded by Mr. Britton, it is resolved that this Board doth fqvor the enao,tment of a State Sales Tax, the receipts ~o be returned to the localities for General F~nd purposes. And be it further resolved that copies of said resolution be sent to representati~ and/or interested parties. On motion of Dr. Gill, seconded by Mr. Hague, it is resolved that the bill of $1650.00 presented by the A.N.Toler Company for the audit of %he County, be and the same is hereby approved for payment. And be kt further resolved that the current budget be amended by transferring $150.0~ from the u~expondod surplus of the County to 1a-202. It is generally agreed that a letter from the Water Control Bc~d concerning sewerage in the Ettrick Sanitary District be received a~d filed with the Board's papers. On motion of Dr. Gill, seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that the Executive Secretary be and he breby is requested to obtain the rates and feasibility of ourchasing liability insurance for the County Water Department. This day again the matter of a game claim fo~ Mr.J. Louis Reynolds, came before Board, and Whereas, Mr. Reynolds had requoste4 $100.00 for a one-day old calf killed by dogs, Whereas, Mr Reynolds, had listed 142 head of cattle on his farm and assessed same a t ~50.00 per head, Now, Therefore, Be it Resolved on motion of Dr. Gill, seconded hy Mr. Hague, that this Board ~y Mr..J. Louis Reynold~ $50.00 for a one-day calf killed by dogs on his farm in ~erm~uda District. On motion of Nr. Hague, seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that the ~ame claims of the County be paid as presented. This day Mr. Lewis Martin again requested tho approval of the construction of a sewer line from the northeast corner of McGuire Circle to the City of Richmond at Roanoke Street, and it was ~enerally agreed tb~t the Board would defer action until February 16th to allow the study of a p~oposed contract between the City of Richmond and the Gou~tyof GhsstoFfield fo~ the i~i~iation of this sea.ice. 'this day Mr, John Foster came before the Board on behalf of Mr. Lind Lawrence, requesting the rezoning from Agriculture to General Business of the following described parcel of land: In Midlothian Magisterial District, a parcel of, land fronting 742 feet on Rt.60 and extending northwardly 300 feet, said parcel, being 1600 feet west of Buford Road. Wyatt, requested a variance on ].,et 22, Section E, Block. A, Stratford Hills, which lot faces Idlewild Road, and would allow the construction of a house 30 feet from the property line rather than the required ~0 feet. This day Mr.-W.C,Moore,, requested a variance from the County's buildinK restricti( on Lot 67, Be-llwood Manor, located at ~26 Russell Road, and the fact was cited that a wooden garace now 18 inches from the side line to be taxed and which building was to be replaced by an all-steel ~arage 5 feet from the side line. This day there arose a discussion on the salary of Mr, HomerHudson; upon considera whereof and on motionof Mr. Driskill, seconded by Mr, Hague, it is resolved that this matter be referred to the Water Committee, This day Mr. Bohannon and neiF, hbors on the old Broad Rock Road., just west of Hey Road, came before the Board seekinF, the extension of a water line along old Broad Rock Road, stating_ that ~h.~yare willin~ to pay for a ~" line but are unw~lli~ to pay for a 6 or 8" line. The County EnF~ineer stated that an 8· line should be continued on this road from the present Master Plan.
