This day Hr, W. N, Yancey requested a variance in the building restrictions to <br />allow the erection of a g~rage apartment on Lot i at the corner of Hopkins <br />and Chesterfield Avenues in Ettrick, Upon consideration whereof, and on motion <br />of Dr. Gill, seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that this Board authorize <br />Mr. Yancey to construct a garage apartment, provided a separate sewer and water <br />connection is made and p~'ovided that a metal garage be removed from Lot ~l. <br /> <br />This day Mr. Nilliam W. Hawkins requested a variance from the building restirctio <br />to allow the construction of a house on Lot ~3, Section E, 6 feet from either <br />side line, and further to allow a sewerage connection and water connection robe <br />run to Orange Hill Avenue. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr. <br />~ague, seconded by Mr.Britton, it is resolved that this request be granted <br />providing an engineerls report is furnished showing that the sewerage connection <br />can be installed satisfactorily. <br /> <br />This ~y Miss Lucy Gert, Supt. of Public Welfare, requested in writing, the <br />following transfers in the 1955-~56 Welfare Budget: <br /> <br />From Non-Matching Funds - $?0.00 to Old Age Assistance <br />From Non-Matching Funds - $145.00 to A.P.T.D. <br />From Non-Matching Funds - $!50,00 to Aid to the Blind <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Hague, seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that the afore- <br />mentioned transfers be and they are authorized. <br /> <br />This day the Executive Secretary read a letter from the State Water Control <br />Board citing the fact that little progress is being made by the ~ttrick <br />Sanitary District in getting started with its sewage improvements. Upon <br />consideration whereof and on motion of Dr. Gill, seconded by Mr. Goyne, it is <br />resolved that the Executive Secretary be and he hereoy is requested to forward <br />to Hayes, Seay, Mattern and Mattern a copy of the ~ater Control Board's letter <br />and request a reply to this Board. <br /> <br />On motionof Dr. Gill,seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that the Purchasing <br />Agent of the County held a public auction tosellthe surplus automobiles for the <br />County. <br /> <br />This day the Chairman read a letter from Mr.J.S.Ritohie concerning the employment <br />of an assistance County Agent. Upon consideration whereof and on ,notion of <br />Mr.Driskill, seconded by Mr.Britton, it is resolved that said letter be received <br />and filed, and the Executive Secretary be authorized to answer said letter. <br /> <br />On motion of Dr. Gill, seconded by Mr. Britton, it is resolved tl~t this Board <br />recommend to the Judge of the Circuit Court the appointment of Mr.$tanley R. <br />Hague, Jr., to theWelfare Board as the Board's representative for the ensuing <br />term. <br /> <br />This day the County Road ~ngineer in accordance with directions from this Board <br />made report in writing upon his examination of Arsenal Drive in the subdivision <br />of Arsenal Hills in Midlotbian Magisterial District, whichreport shows that in <br />the opinion of the County Road Engineer it isexpedie~t that said road be <br />established as a public road. <br />Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr.Driskill, it is resolved that <br />Arsenal Drive in the Arsenal Hills Subdivision i~ Midlothian District, be, a~d <br />the same is hereby established as a public road. <br />~nd be it further resolved, that the Virginia Department of Highways, be, and <br />it hereby is requested to take into the Secondary Road System of Chesterfield <br />County, Arsenal Drive, from a point on Rt. 673, north of Rt, 744, .25 of amile <br />eastwardly to a turn-around. This road serve~ 2 houses. <br />And be it further resolved that the Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County <br />guarantees a right of way to t~e State Department of Highways of not less than <br />50 feet for this road. <br /> <br />This day the ~ounty Road Engineer in accordance with directions from this Board <br />made report in writing upon his examination of Bloomfield Road, Yarmouth Drive, <br />Yarmouth Circle and Whfttinf~O~ Drive in the Crestwood Farms Subdivision, <br />Section B, Manchester Magisterial ]]istrict, which report shows that in the opini¢ <br />of the County Road Engineer, it is expedient that said roads be established <br />as public roads. <br />Upon consideration whereof and on motion of Mr.Britton, it is resolved that <br />Bloomfield Road, Yarmouth Drive, Yarmouth Circle and Whittington Drive in the <br />Grestwood Farms Subdivision in Manchester Magisterial District, be, and the same <br />are hereby established as public roads. <br />And be it further resolved that the Virginia Department of Highways be and it <br />hereby is requested to take intothe Secondary Road System of Chesterfield County, <br />Bloomfield Road, from a point on Rt.686, miles east of }it. 1712, .1 of a mile <br />northwardly to Yarmouth Drive, thence .0~ of a mile northwardly to ~ittington <br />Drive; Yarmouth Drive, from a point on Bloomfield Road ~1 of a mile north of <br />its intersection with Rt. 686, .06 of a mile eastwardly, thence .1 northwardl~ <br />to Yarmouth Circle, thence .22 of a mile eastwardly, to a. ~u~-a~OU~d$ '¥$rm~uth <br />Circle, from a point on Yarmouth Drive, .16 of a mile from its intersection with <br />Bloomfield ~06 of a mile northward to a dead end; Whittington Drive, from a point <br />on ~l~omfield Road, .39 of a mile north of its intersection with Rt. 686, .37 <br />of a m~le eastwardly to a dead end.
