<br />This day Mr. Roy Laffoon of the Ettrick Sanitary District, and ten other in-
<br />terested citizens presented a list of questions on which they requested the
<br />Board's policies and opinions. After considerable discussion of the finances
<br />of the Sanitary District, and on motion of Mr. Driskill, seconded by Mr. C~yne,
<br />it is resolved that this Board request the Commonwealth's Attorney toprepare a
<br />resolution on a $50,000.00 Bond Issue for theEttrick Sanitary District Sewerage
<br />Treatment and Improvement Pro§ram.
<br />And be it further resolved, that the CommonwealthIs Attorney be and he hereby
<br />is authori~ed~tocoomtact a bond attorney £o have the aforementioned resolution
<br />legally approved.
<br />On motion of Dr. Gill, seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that this Board
<br />request the consulting engineering firm of Hayes, Seay, Mattern and Mattern
<br />to draw fhe final plans and specifications for the connecting of the sewerage
<br />system of Petersburg, alonK with the pl. ans and specifications for a pumping
<br />station on said connecting line.
<br />On motion of Dr. Gill, seconded by Mr.Goyne, it is resolved.that the Executive
<br />Secretary be and he hereby is requested to ascertain the fee of Hayes, Seay,
<br />Mattern and ~attern for preparin§ preliminary plans on Rutledge Avenue and
<br />the east end of Jackson Street.
<br />On motion of Dr. Gill, seconded by MrgDrXskll%,it.is resolved that a Committee
<br />of Mr. Peyton Goodall, the County Engineer, Mr. Ohms. quaiff, and the Executive
<br />Secretary be appointed to study the problem of billing and collectin~ in the
<br />EttrickSanitary District, particularly as.it pertains to a cut-elf policy
<br />for delinquents.
<br />On motion of Dr. Gill, seconded by Mr. Hague, it is resolved that a quarterly
<br />financial report be sent to the Ettrick Sanitary District.
<br />On motion of Dr. Gill, seconded by Mt. Hague, it is resolved that upon] the
<br />request of the Ettrick Sanitary District Committee, the Chief of Police
<br />be notified of their petition and concern regarding the h~avy afternoon traffic
<br />on Chesterfield Avenue.
<br />On motion of Dr. Gill, seconded by Mr. Hague, it is resolved that this Board
<br />appropriate from the General Fund of the County the sum of $55,220.31, to
<br />the School fund to finance the school system thnou~h September 17, 1956.
<br />On motion of Dr. Gill, seconded by Mr. Goyne, it is resolved that the Chester-
<br />field Fox Hunters and Game Protective Association be and it hereby is authorized
<br />to hold a bench show in the Hening Buildin~ on October 5, 1956.
<br />On motion of Mr. Driskill, seconded by Mr.Britton, it is resolved that the
<br />Executive Secretary be and he hereby is authorized to have installed a 2"
<br />water outlet from the Midlothian School water system to Rt, 60 in front of
<br />the Midlothian Fire Department and charge the expense of same to the Operation
<br />of the Fire Department.
<br />This day the matter of widening Luck's Lane, Rt. 720, came before the Board.
<br />at the request of Mr. Marshall Driskill, who presented a petition signed by
<br />nineteen people living on said road, and it was cited that the County School
<br />buses cannot travel Rt.?Z0 because said road is not wide enough for two cars
<br />to pass, making it necessary for children to walk 1-1/~ miles to Rt.653,to get
<br />school bus transportation. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of
<br />Mr. Driskill, seconded by Dr, Gill, it is resolved that this Board request the
<br />Virginia Department of Highways to widen Rt. 720 so that cars may pass in a safe
<br />fashion and so that Gounty School buses may furnish school transportation to
<br />the many children living on said road.
<br />On motion of Mr.Britton, seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that before
<br />any new business water connections, which are not owned by the applicant, be
<br />installed a $25,00 deposit must be advanced by the applicant and same returned
<br />to the applicant less any amount outstanding when water service is discqntinuedo
