Gill This day again the ma%ber of pruning the trees in the County courtyard came before ti~e Board, and it was ~eneraliy agr~cd ~kat this matter be de±ayed until the next meeting of this Board, and that the Execrative Secretary consult with i4r. T. D. Watkins rel~ive ~.o ~ke feasibiiiuy of priming the valuable tre~s in the courtyard. This day i4r. Harold Goyne brought ~o t:~ atte~tion oi' t~e Board the mat~er of protecting records in the Clerk's uffice, and it was generally agreed tnaL the Executive Secretary consult with the Judge of Circuit Court, Clerk of Circuit Court, and the Commonwealth's Attorney, re~arding the Commonwealth's Attorney~ re;~arding the Board's responsibility in this matter. This day ~4r. John Taylor came before the Board seeking the job of the operatkon of the filtration plant at Falling Creek. There came also ,4r. Homer S. Hudson, seeking the same job. Upon consideration whereof, and on raotion of 14r. Goyne, seconded by Gunter, it is resolvcd t[at %his Board employ i~'ir. Homer S. Hudson at a salary of ,~32©O.OO per year, and free rental of the County owned house on the Falling Creek. It is understood timt the rental of this house ks valued at $40.OO per month, and that 14r. Hudson is to pay all utilities nece~;~ary. This day the Executive Sr:cretary read a list of roads acce]~ted into the State Secondary System of roads by the De~mrtmcnt of Highways. These are as follows: 5Oth Street--Beginning at a point on Rt. !~O~ at Int. Rt. 1207 r~ning in a southwardly direction a dista~ce of 0.,~5 Mi. to the Int. of Hornet Lane. Lend,th 0.2~ mile. S. of the Int. of t{t. 10 and Rt. ~2~0 and r~ning in a westwardly direction 0.12 [~i. to 5Oth Street. Length O.t2 l~ile. ~stonc Avenue--Beginning at a point on Rt. i210, 0.06 Mi. W. of ~t. 10 in a southerly direction a distance oi' O.11 Mi. to Horner Lane. Length 0.11 mile. ,.it. Bella Road Rxtension--Beginning at a point on Rt. 1714 at the Int. Rt. 1713, r~ming in a so~[W-gJfgYly direction a distance of 0.13 Mi. thence in a north- westerly direction a distance of O.18 ~4i. to the Int. of Rt. 1713, 0.11 Mi. south- west of Rt. 1713. Length 0.31 Mile. This day the Finance Board reco,'~:~ended the Bank of Fowhatan to be named as a depository for Chesterfield County funds. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of i4r. Britton, seconded by Gunter, it is resolved that the Bank of Powhatan be and the same is hereby deczared to be an approved depository for funds of the County of Chesterfield. This day the Executive Secretary read a letter from the Hon. Lloyd C. Bird, quoting'certain proposed le~islation in which the Board of Supervisors might be interested. On motion, the same is ordered to be received and filed with the Board's papers. This day the Light Co~nittee of the Board of Supervisors made its report in writing. On motion of 14r. Britton, secon~ied [~y ~ir. Goyne, it is resolved that the Virginia Electric & Power Company be and it hereby is requested to install the street li,~hts as r¢co.~:~nended in this report. A lengthy discussion ensued concerning th~ ~ater De~rtment and its operations to ~he great {)e~efit of all concerned. On motion, this meeting is adjourned until 10:00 a. m. February !0, 1953
