VIRGINIA: At an adjourned meeting of the <br /> Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield <br /> County, held at the Chesterfield <br /> Courthouse on August 27, 1953, at <br /> 8:00 p.m.' <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />~r. Irvin G. Homer, Chairman <br />F~r. H. T. Goyne <br />Mr. J. P. Gunter <br />Dr. Robt. O. Gill <br />Mr. ~. J. Britton <br />Mr. S. R. Hague, Jr. <br /> <br />This day Mrs. Bertha Smith, wife of Jack Smith, deceased, appeared before the <br />Board requesting some c~mpensation for a road right-of-way tsk~n by the County <br />approximately 15 years age,~and <br /> <br />Whereas, on the advise of the Commonwealth,s Attorney that this action ~ad been <br />taken by the County and that said read now called the Drewry's Bluff Road, <br />dividing Parcels 57 and 58 of Section 23-A of our present tax maps, upon <br />consideration whereof and on mQDion of Mr. Goyne, seconded by ~v~. Brittou it is <br />resolved that the Executive Sec~-etary be and he hereby is directed to pay to <br />Nrs. Bertha Smith the sum of $100.00 for said right-Of-way, providing a suitable <br />deed acceptable by the Commonwealth's Attorney be presented. <br /> <br />Whereas, The City of Richmond has chose to install utility pipe lines within the <br />County of Chesterfield seeking only the permission of the State Highway Depart- <br />ment, and <br /> <br />Whereas, the Board of Supervisors, the governing Body of the County of Ch~ <br />has been advised that it is protected by the laws of the Commonwealth against <br />such invasion, <br /> <br />~ow, Therefore, Be it Resolved, on motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by Mr. Goyne, <br />that this Board direct the Commonwealth's Attorney to institute such legal <br />proceedings as are necessary to enjoin and aba~e this practice with the sole idea <br />being that with the installation of such utility lines the County of Chesterfield <br />may suffer severe hardships in the future installation of its sewerage, water <br />~'Ad gas systems. <br /> <br />This day the Exec~,tive Secretary 'read a letter which he had written to the State <br />Water Control Board, setting forth the County's position in the treatment of <br />sewerage in the Ettrick S~nitary District. <br /> Upon consideration whereof m~d on motion of Dr. Gill, seconded by M~. Goyne, <br />it is resolved that said letter be approved and the same be sent to the S~tate <br />Water Control Board. <br /> <br />This day the Executive Secretary read a letter from General Anderson, Governor <br />Battle, ~d Mr. Thomas Stanley, replying to the resolution on toll roads and <br />it was ordered that said letters be filed with the Board's papers. <br /> <br />This day again the matter of constructing a road from Rt. l0 to Rt. 618 for the <br />primary benefit of the Allied Chemical Company was discussed before the Board, <br />~d <br /> <br />Whereas, it was learned that the survey which the State Highway Department wanted <br />to make had not been made, <br /> <br />Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of ~,~r. Goyne, seconded by Dr. Gill, it <br />is resolved that the Executive Secretary be and he he.by is directed to write to <br />Mr. Snead, District Engineer, Virginia Department of Highways requesting the <br />Highway Deparment to do everything possible to expedite this survey. <br /> <br />On motion oi' bh~. Britton, seconded by Dr. Gill, it is resolved that this Board <br />reque.st the Highway Department to inst~ll a culvert on Derwent Avenue, at the <br />intersection of Whitehead Avenue, at a cost not to exceed $50.00, to be paid <br />from the County's 35 Road Fund. <br /> <br /> <br />
