04-04-1950 MinutesVIRGINIA: At a meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield Couaty held at the Courthouse on April 4, 1950 at 3:00 p.m. Present: J% G. Hening, Chairman H. T. Goyne J .C. Mc Kes son Robt. ~. Gill Irvin G. Hornet Absent: James W.Gordon, Jr. on motion of ~ir.H.T.Goyne, the Ordinance c'onfining dogs for a period of forty- five days is adopted: AN ORDINANCE Whereas, this Board's attention has been called to the fact that a rabi~ dog has been at large in the Village of Chester, in this County, and that it is known that at least One other dog has been bitten by the said rabid dog;and! Whereas, this Board desires to prevent any possible spread of rabies in this County, and Whereas, under authority of Section 29-105 of the Code of Virginia of 1950, this Board is authorized to require owners of dogs to keep said dogs confined Sn th&ir premises unless muzzled in such msnner that persona or animals will not be subject to the danger of being bitten thereby. Upc~ consideration whereof, and on motion, it is ordained as follows:i On and after t his date every owner of a dog in Chesterfield County shall keep his dog confined on his premises unless muzzled in such manner that persons or animals will not be subject to the ~anger of being bitten thereby. 2. Any person violating the provisions of this ordinance shall be fined not more t~an Fifty Dollars ($50.00). 3. This Ordinance shall be effective for forty-five(~5) ~ays from this date. 4. An emergency existing, this Ordinance shall be in force from its passage. It is recommended by the Health authorities that you get your dog vaccinated against rabies.
