VIRGINIA: At a meeting of the Board of <br /> Supervisors of Chesterfield Couaty <br /> held at the Courthouse on April 4, <br /> 1950 at 3:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />J% G. Hening, Chairman <br />H. T. Goyne <br />J .C. Mc Kes son <br />Robt. ~. Gill <br />Irvin G. Hornet <br /> <br />Absent: James W.Gordon, Jr. <br /> <br />on motion of ~ir.H.T.Goyne, the Ordinance c'onfining dogs for a period of forty- <br />five days is adopted: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE <br /> <br /> Whereas, this Board's attention has been called to the fact that a <br />rabi~ dog has been at large in the Village of Chester, in this County, and that <br />it is known that at least One other dog has been bitten by the said rabid dog;and! <br /> <br /> Whereas, this Board desires to prevent any possible spread of rabies <br />in this County, and <br /> <br /> Whereas, under authority of Section 29-105 of the Code of Virginia <br />of 1950, this Board is authorized to require owners of dogs to keep said dogs <br />confined Sn th&ir premises unless muzzled in such msnner that persona or animals <br />will not be subject to the danger of being bitten thereby. <br /> <br />Upc~ consideration whereof, and on motion, it is ordained as follows:i <br /> <br />On and after t his date every owner of a dog in Chesterfield County <br />shall keep his dog confined on his premises unless muzzled in such <br />manner that persons or animals will not be subject to the ~anger <br />of being bitten thereby. <br /> <br />2. Any person violating the provisions of this ordinance shall be fined <br /> not more t~an Fifty Dollars ($50.00). <br /> <br />3. This Ordinance shall be effective for forty-five(~5) ~ays from this <br /> date. <br /> <br />4. An emergency existing, this Ordinance shall be in force from its <br /> passage. <br /> <br /> It is recommended by the Health authorities that you get your dog <br />vaccinated against rabies. <br /> <br /> Ordered that the meeting be now adjourned until April 11, 1950 at <br />10:00 a.m. <br /> <br />Nxe~cut i ve Secretary <br /> <br /> <br />
