D .Watkin s P.W.Covington VI~GINIA: At a meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County, held at the Courthouse on December 17, 1947, at 8:00 p.m. This day Mr.Fred R.Shepherd appeared before the Board regarding the proposed annexation of a territory of Chesterfield County by Colonial Heights, stating that he felt that it was necessary to annex this territory in order to control the water shed and the area around the filter plant now being erected by Colonial Heights. Since the Ordinance of the Town of Colonial Heights for the annexation of this area had not been presented to the Judge, no action could b e taken Ny the Board of Supervisors and it was felt that this type of cooperate meeting was very ~essential to an annexation meeting. No ~ tion was taken. This day Mr.A.M.Toler appeared before the Board and presented a report of the audit of the Utilities Department and informed the Board that in his judgment it showed a very good picture for future operations of the Department, which report was received and filed. This day Mr~.Chas. Willis of Scott, Homer and Mason, Inc., Bond Buyers, appeared before the Boar~ and requested a clarification of the callable features of the bonds recently agreed to be purchased by them. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of T.D.Watkins, it is resolved that none of the bonds be callable fora period of ten years and at the expiration of ten years all unpaid bonds be callable in inverse order with a sixty d ay notice of intent to retire the same given to the last known hold, rs of the bonds or by legal publication previous to any interest period. This d ay the Executive Secretary presented to the Board a report from the Sanitary District Committee of Ettrick, stating that they had received a request from a group of ~ttrick Citizens for permission to use the Ettrick Town Hall for a temporary quarters for religious services, s taring that the Sanitary District Committee recommended to the Bm rd that this permission be granted if possible. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of P.W. Covington, it is ~esolved that th Board of Supervisors graut the request of the Ettrick Sanitary District Committee and grant permission to the aforesaid group of citizens of Ettrick t o hold religio% servicas in the Tovm Hall, making no charge for the same, provided that if any janitor services are needed before or after themeetdngs they be provided by the citizens. This day the Board of Supervisors which had been appointed as a Committee to investigate applicants for the position of Chief of Police of Chesterfield County, interviewed the applicants for the same and there appared the following applicants Mr. Carlisle Johnstone Mr. W. B. Longest Mr. R.C.Gaunce Mr. Robert King Mr. W.E.Koch Mr. D. W. Murphey W%ereupon the Board took this matter under consideration for action at a future meeting. This day Mr.P.Rixey Jones, County Farm Agent, appeared before the Board stating th~ there had been some question as to the accounts of the lime spreading project operated tSrough the County agents office and requested that the Board appoint a Committee to review the accounts for the Board. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of W.A.Horner, it is resolved that the Executive Secretary be and he hereby is appointed as a Committee to examine the records of the accounts of the lime spreading project in the Farm Agent's office and report at the next meeting of the Board.
