This day, Mr. Geo.W. ]'.~oore, Jr., Commissioner of Reve~ue, submitted to the Board his report of sRpenses incurred in the operation and maintenance of his office in the amount of $1122.O0, of which the County has paid two-thirds or $748.00, the remainder robe paid by theState, and the Board approving the repot, the same is fi~ed. This d~, Mr.M.Ae Cogb~ll, Commonwealth's Attorney, submitted to the Board his report for the month of January, 1948, showing expenses incurred in the operation and ~ maintenance of his office, in the amount of $474.43, of which the County has pai.d ~ one-half or $237.21, the remainder to be paid by the State, and the Board appr~zng the report, the same is filed. This day, ~[r~ O.B.Gates, Sheriff, submitted to the Board his report for the month of December, 1947, showing empenses incurred in the operation and maintenanceof that office in the amount of $777.87, of which the County has paid one-third c~ $259.29, the remainder to be paid by the State, and the Board appro.ving the repcrt, the same is filed. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of James W. Gordon, Jr., seconded by J.C.McKesson, it is resolved that the members of the Legislature of W. rginia representing the County of Chesterfield, be, and they are hereby respectfully requested to lave the law providing for school trustees amended so as to authorize the compensation to said trustees not to exceed $600.00 per annum. This day, ~R.F.Jones, Colored Farm Agent, and Guy Trent, appeared before the Board requestin~ that some provision be ~mde foroffice space for the colored Farm A~ent and the colored Home Demonstration Agent. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of P.W.Covington, the matter is referred to the Buildirg s and Grounds Committee. This day I. E.Bowman, Acting Chief of Police of Chesterfield County, appeared before the Board requesting this Board to recommend to the Judge of Circuit Court the e~ployment and appointment of C. ~'~esley Cunningham, a former member of the Police Department, to the Police Department of Chesterf~.eld C~'~unty. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of J.C.McKesson, it is resolved that C. Wesley Cunningham be and he hereby is recommended to the Judge of Circuit Court for appointment to the Rolfce Department of Cbs sterfield County. This day the Deputy Game Warden, Mr.A.J.Horner, sugMested to the Board that it was his opinion that the fiftc, en days of s quirrei season in September was a detriment to the game in Chesterfield County and suggested that some steps be taken to request the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries to discontinue this eeason in Chester- field County. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of p.W.Covington, it is resolved that the Del~rtment of Game ~nd Inland Fisherfes be and it hereby is requested to discontinue an open squirrel season previous to the opening of the regular hunting season in Chesterfield County. The Executive Secretary read a ~tter from State Agent, R.W.Newsome, Virginia Agricultural Extension Service, stating th~ they hoped the County would include in i ts 1948-'49 budget an appropriation f or this work, which letter was received and filed. This day the Executive Secretary read an application for a Use Permit to construct a 6-family apartment on Buford and Chesterfield Avnues in Bon Air, which application was made by Mr.G.C.Che~ming. The Executive '3ecretary stRted that this application had been presented at a previous meeting of the Board of Supervisors and that notices had been posted on the property, and t~re appearing no one opposing the granting of this permit, it is resolved on motion of James W. Gordon, Jr., that the application fpr a Use PemiD be granted to Mr.G.C.Che~ning. Tkis day the Executive Secretary read a notice from the At]antic Coast Line RR. ~ompany advising that they will apply to the State Corporati. on Commission in writing on the 9th day of March, 1948, for written consent to discontinue the employment of a caretaker at Bell Bluff (formerly Drewry's Bluff} station in Chesterfield County, which letter is received amd filed. This day the following cases came up for the first time for rezoning and Use Permits: Request for rezonin~ from Agriculture to Local Business-Intersection of Eikhardt Road and ~t.360 by Mr. A.L.Davis. Application for rezoning from Agriculture to Local Busi~ss on the north side of Rt.l$4 at the intersection of Rt. 144 and Rt. 1130 at Stop 50. This application is m adc by I~r. Chesterfield Smith. An application for rezoning from Agriculture to General Business a section of Rt.3~O, near the intersection of Rt.360 and Rt.667. This application is made by I~r.Ernest F. Garner. A Use Permit for the extension of a non-conforming use (enlarging a commercial chicken business) !o~ Butte ~oad, Rt.18OS. This application is made by Mrs. C. T. Chappelle.
