This day the Executive Secretary stated he ~d received from the Oren Fire ApparatUs <br />Company, one of the fire engines which had been taken there and rebuilt, and requeo~ed <br />disposition of the same. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of H.T. <br />Goyne, it is resolved that the Executive Secretary be and he hereby is instructed <br />to place this piece of equipment with theChester Fire Department and take the <br />Chester fire equipment to Roanoke for rebuilding. <br /> <br />This day the Executive Secretary presented a letter from C.F.Kellam, Resident <br />Engineer, regarding the construction of a sidewalk on Sherbourne Avenue, Rt.1608, <br />which letterwas received and filed. <br /> <br />This da~ the Executive Secretary presented a letter received from Mr.C.S.Mullen, <br />Chief Engineer, Virginia Department or.Highways, regarding the request made by <br />the Board of Supervisors on the improvement of Rt.360 to a four-lane road, west <br />of the City of Richmond, which ~etter is received and filed. <br /> <br />The Executive Secretary read a letter from ~rs. T. H. Sledd,Chairman, Garden <br />Department, of the Woman's Club of Chester, stating that they were sponsoring <br />a clean-up week from November 29 to December 5, and asked that the County cooperate <br />by collecting trash from additional cans placed for public use at this time, and that <br />weekly col]o ctions be ~iven for these cans and more often than monthly colle,ctions <br />begiven all of Chester. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of H.T.Goyne, <br />the Executive Secretary is instructed to write Mrs. Sledd that the Board will be <br />glad to cooperate with them during clean-up week. And be it further resolved <br />that the Executive Secretary be and he hereby is instrucDed to obtainprices on an <br />additional truck for use in trash collection department in order t~t more frequent <br />collections may be made in the County. <br /> <br /> This day the Chairman read a letter from the P.T.A. Association of the Carv~ High <br /> School requesting that the Board send a representatice to the dedication ceremony <br /> for the new high school building. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of <br /> JI C. R~cK~sson, it is resolved that ~.H.T.Goyne be appointed to represent the <br /> Board of Supervisors 'on this occasion. <br /> <br />This day the B~rd's atterhion was called to the fact that Cecil T. Chappelle and <br />~yrtle S. Chappelle are constructing a certain building on their premises in <br />Midlothian District, in Chesterfield County, without a permit from this Board to <br />so construct ~ building. That said building is designed to operate a business <br />in the same, all in violation of the Zoning Ordinance of Chesterfield County. <br />Upon consideration whereof, and on motion, it is resolved that the Commonwaalt h's <br />Attorney be an~ he hereby is authorized and directed to proceed tohave the Circuit <br />Court to enjoin Cecil T. and ~yrtle S. Chappelle from further violation of the <br />ZOning Ordinance. <br />And be it further resolved that W. H.Caldwell, Executive Secretary, be, and he <br />hereby is authorized, empowered, and directed to sign all necessary papers required <br />in this ~roceeding before the Circuit Court. <br /> <br />This day the E~ecutive Secretary stated that he had been notified that some of the <br />cars which had been purchased for the Police Department were ready for delivery, <br />and requested whmt to do for service on these cars. Upon consideration whereof, <br />and on motion of H.T.Goyne. it is reso]Med that the Executive Secretary be and he <br />hereby is instructed 6o ta~e the p$1ice cars to authorized dealers of the make of <br />car which needs attention until such time as the County may provide its <br />supervision. <br /> <br />This day the Executive Secretary inquired of the Board regarding the insurance on t~e <br />Police ~ars. Upon c onsi~eration whereof, and on motion of James W.Gordon, Jr., <br />it is resolved that the Executive Secretary be instructed to ascertain from several <br />companies the cost of full coverage insurance on the Police cars. <br /> <br />This day Mr. J. C. McKesson, Manager of the Chesterfield $ounty Fair Association, <br />stated the Association had spent a large amount on~ capital outlay and improvement <br />and that the Fair Association had fallen short of $15~0.25 to meet obligations, <br />and suggested that the County pay th~ much toward the improvement of the <br />buildin~ and grounds. Opon consideration whereof, and on motion of H.T.Goyne <br />it is resolved that the sum of $1560.25 be and it her&by is appropriated from the <br />unappropriated surplus of the General Fund to llc-215. <br /> <br />Tills day a~ain the matter of a request from the Tri~l ~ustice for an adding machine <br />came before the Board, and on motion of P.W.Covington, it is resolved that the <br />Executive Secretary~be and he hereby is instructed to get prices on an adding machi~e <br />for that department. <br /> <br /> <br />
