Covington <br /> <br />This day further arguments were heard for and against the enactment of the propose <br />Zoning Ordinance for Chesterfield County. There appearing against the <br />Ordinance-Mr. E. A. Kyhn, Mr. Wm. 01d, Mr. A. T. Curtis, and M~s. Cline; those <br />appearing in favor of the Ordinance, Mr. R. Stuart Royer and Mr. ~rvin Sutherland <br />~fter lengthy discussions, Mr. H. T. Goyne offered a motion that the Ordinance <br />be tabled for the duration of the War. This motion died for the want of a secon <br /> <br />Those present were notified that the next meeting scheduled for hearing on the <br />proposed Zoning Ordinance would be June 23, 1943, at 10:00 o'clock A.M. <br /> <br />This day the Executive Secretary again called the attention of the Board tc~ a <br />suggestion from the State Department of Taxation and the State Planning Board <br />that they assist Chesterfield County in producing a land tax map for the County; <br />planning to make it a beginning of a simflar service to other counties in the <br />State by the DePartment of Taxation and the State Planning Board. <br />Mr. Marvin Sutherla~d, of the State Planning Board, appeared to express the view <br />of the State Planning Board in this matter and stated that at its last meeting all <br />members of the State Planning Board were in favor of beginning such a project,and <br />while no defLuite figures were available yet, from experiences of counties similar <br />to Chesterfield who had created a land tax map he felt that the cost to Chesterfie <br />County would not be over $5,000.00, and that it was the opinion of the State <br />Planning Board that any cost above this amount might be borne by the Department <br />of Taxation and the Planning Board. Upon consideration whereof, and on <br />motion of H. T. Goyne, it is resolved that this matter be carried over to the <br />next meeting of the Board of Supervisors. <br />~nd be it further reso~ved~that the Executive Secretary be and he hereby is <br />instructed to obtain such data on the actual cost of this project as possible <br />before that date. <br /> <br />This day the Executive Secretary brought to the Board's atte~tion the fact that <br />the Office of Civilian Defense had offered certain fire fighting equipment <br />to the County of Chesterfield, provided Property Agents be appointed by the <br />Board of Supervisors and properly bonded to care for the safety of such equipment. <br />On motion of H.T. Goyne, it is resolved that a Committee be appointed to <br />investigate the advisability of accepting such equipment and to report at a <br />later meeting. <br />Whereupon, the Chairman appointed H. T. Goyne and T. D. '~atkins as this Committee. <br /> <br />This day the Executive Secretary reported to the Board that ~he water in the syste <br />at Bellewood Manor from analysis showed a high content of carbon dioxide, acting <br />on the tank and pipes causing discoloration, and after a survey by the State <br />Health Department it was recommended that the water be treated with Micromar to <br />relieve this situation. On motion of W. A. l~rner, it is resolved that the <br />Executive Secretary be and he hereby is instructed to take such steps as ~ecessar <br />to correct the condition now existing. <br /> <br />This day, Mr. J. Wm. Dance, Treasurer, of Chesterfield County, appeared before t <br />Board and requested that he be permitted to increase the salaries of his three <br />(3) office assistants in the amount of $10.00 per month, effective May l, 19~3, <br />provided such an increasm w~Iibe allowed by the Compensation Board; and an addi- <br />tional $60.00 for extra helpduring his field collection trips. <br />UDon consideration whereof, and on motion of' W. A. Hornet. it is resolved that <br />the request of Mr. Dance be granted and that the sum of SA0.00 be transferred <br />from the unexpended surplus of the General Fund to budgetary code ~a-10~, <br />Compensation of Office Assistants, of the current budget, $ogether with the sum <br />of SE00.00 previously sst up in the budget for 1943-'44, this being the County's <br />part of such an increase, complying with the request of Mr. Dance. <br /> <br />Notice of the adoption of a "Pig" Ordinance as amended having been duly advertise~ <br />it is resolved on motion of T.
