This day a garnishment was served on the Chairr~n of the Board of Supervisors <br />of Chesterfield County, in favor of the Southern Bank and Trust Company su~uonsi~ <br />the Board and ~Ir. Wm. 01d, Attorney, to appear befor~c the Judge o2 Circuit Court <br />of Chesterfield County, at Chesterfield Courthouse, on the llth day of 0c~ober, <br />1943, at ll:00 o'clock a.m. <br /> <br />This day the Executive Secretary presented to the Board an Order from the <br />Circuit Court concurring in a resolution previously passed by this Board appoint .ng <br />~r. Wm. 01d, ~tty. to represent the Board in the case of the Chesterfield County <br />School BoarG Versus the Board of Supervisors, et al, fixing the fee of his <br />services at $350.0G. Upon consideration YJhereof, and on motion of P. W. <br />Covington, the bill is ordered paid. <br /> <br />This day the Exec;~tive Secretary read to tho Board a bill in the amount of <br />$114.19, together with correspondence Eiom l~r. Harry Snead in connection with <br />the collection of delinquent taxes. Upon consideration ~ereof, and on <br />motion of J. G..Hening, the Commonwealth's Attorney and the Executive Secretary <br />are requested to work out this matter with Mr. Snead. <br /> <br />The~Executive Secretary read a letter from Mr. J. M. Turner, stating that he had <br />recently purchased and obtained a deed for the Tidewater and ~stern Railroad <br />right-of-way betvmen Highway ~10 and High~y ~632, also stating that he would <br />dedicate to the State or County a 40' right-of-way for a public road, provided <br />that the State and/or County would improve this right-of-way and make a public <br />road. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of J. G. Hening~, the Chairman <br />is requested to appoint a Committee to view this road and report at a later date <br />Whereupon, theChairman appointed Mr. J. G. Hening, ~n~ Mr. H. T. Goyne, as <br />this Committee. <br /> <br />~lr. M. A. Cogbill, Co~nwealth's Attorney, brought to the Board a request from <br />the Police Ben evolen~ Association that a member of the Board of Supervisors <br />be appointed as Director thereof. Upon motion of H. T. Goyne, the Chairman is <br />requested to appoint a member of this Board to act as Director of the Organizati <br />Whereupon, the Chairman appolntedMr.W.A. Homer as this member. <br /> <br />This day, M. A. Cogbill, Commonwealth's Attorney, came before this Board and <br />requested that he be permitted to appear before the State Compensation Board to <br />request an increase in that Board's authorization to the Com~onwealth's <br />Attorney office for stenographic services, and <br />Whereas, it appears to this Board that it is proper that such request to the <br />Compensation Board be made, and that it is suggested that $10.00 per month be <br />the limit of such additional allowance of authorization <br />Now, Therefore, on motion,i~ is r~solved that M. A. Cogbill, Commonwealth's <br />Attorney, be and he hereby is authorized to appear before theStat~ Compensation <br />Board to request that it allow an increase of not exceeding $10.00 per month <br />to the Commonwealth Attorney's Office for stenographic services. <br /> <br /> Ordered that the meeting be now adjourned until 10:00 o'clock a.m. on <br />August 10, 1943. <br /> <br />~~etary <br /> <br /> <br />
