T.Goyne, it is resolved that the mxecu~mve ~ecrezary oe eric ne hereby is instructed to inform t he Extension Division that the extension of the leave of absence for Miss Tyree to ~anuary l, 19A5,is granted. This day the Executive Secretary read a letter from Mr. Raymond V. Long, Director, Virginia State Planning Board, stating that there would be meetings for the purpose of discussing local postwar projects held in Blacksburg on July 1Eth, Farmville July l~th, and Charlottesville July lath, and extending to all members of.the Board an invitation to attend either or all of these meetings. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of T.D.~atkins, it is resolved that the Planning Committee of this Board be requested to ~tend the meeting i~ Charlottesville on July lath, and such other members of the Board as found it convenient to do so. This day Mr.J.G. Henin~_, called the attention of the Board to the fact that one of the members of theBoerd had, at his own expense, very generously advertised the opportunities in Chesterfield County through the newspapers and stated that he felt that such action was very commendable and that the Board of Supervisors should take cognizance of the same and extend a vote of thanks to Mr.H.T.Goyne, ~upervisor, from Bermuda ~istrict, for this action. On motion of J.G. Hening, it is resolved that the Board of Supervisors hereby r~cognizes the service rendered Chesterfield County by Mr.H.T.Goyne in this matter and state their appreciation of same. This day the ~xecutive ~ecretary read a letter from the Department of Highways stet~ that they were ready to improve a section of Rt. 611, Kingsland Road, where it crosses the Atlantic Coast Line Ry. and enclosed a form of resolu~io~ they desired passed by the Board of Supervisors. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of J.G. Bening, it is resolved that the resolution as submitted by the Virginia Department of Highways be and it hereby is adopted, as follows: ¥,ItEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia through the Department of highways has prepared and submitted plans to this Board for the improvement of a section of the State Secondary System of Roads No.611, Section "A", from 0/ll Mi. W. of ACL BR. Crossing to 0.286 Mi. E. of A~L. RR. Crossing ( near Bellwood~ approved May 17, 19AA, and WItEI~EAS, it is the desire of this Board that said road be improved in accordance with said plans NOW, THEREF0~, BE IT RESOL~tD: That this Board hereby approves the plans aha requests the Department of Htghw, ays to proceed with construction in accordance v~ith these plans, and the Board further hereby agrees to and does guarantee a 40 foot unrestricted way of way, 20 feet lying on either side of and adjacent to the centerline as shown on plans, together with such additional~ right of way as may be required for the proper ~xecution of the work as indicated on the above referred to plans. It is further understood, however, that the Department of Highways, at its expense, will move and relocate any existing fences or buildings on said right of way, or fence the right of way on any new location through property which may now be under fence. This day the Executive Secretary called the attention of the Board to the fact that even though it was early in the new fiscal year, that certain bills had emc~eded the amount set up ~ the Budget Committee. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of J.G. Hening, it is resolved that the following appropriations be made from the unappropriated surplus of the General Fund to the following accounts: Aa - 317 Record Books - Clerk's Office $~00.00 2c - 102 Compensation of Examiner of Records 16.99 This day Mr.T.D.~,atkins, called the attention of the Board to the facl~ that certain investigations had been made concerning the purchase and use of an addressograph machine for the Commissioner of Revenue's office and Treasurer's office, and requested that the Board ma~ an imvestigatiom of same. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of H. T.Goyne, ~he Chairman is requested to appoint a Committee to work with the Executive Secretary, iTeasur~ and Co~nissioner of Revenue, in making a s~dy of this matter to report at the next meeting of the Board. ~,hereupon, the Chairman appointed Mr.H.T.Goyhe, to represent the Board mm this Committee. This day the matter of delinquent tazes in the Treasurer's office was a~ain brought before the Board, and the Treasurer reported that because he was winding Up the year's work he was unable to make a report at this time, but would make a report at the next meeting of the Board. This day the Commonwealth's attorney reported to the Board that in view of a law that was passed at the last l~gislature, and is now in effect, the County Policemen will be allowed the sum of 56t. per mile for t~ansporting prisoners between Chesterfield Courthouse and ~ienrico or Petersburg jails, under certain conditions as set forth ~n the law, and requested that the Board request the Compensation Board to allow such claims to the policemen of Chesterfield County. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of W. A. Hornet, it is ~esolved that the Executive Secretary be and he hereby is requested to communicate with the Compensat Board and request the same to allow the claims for travel made by the policemen of Chesterfield County under the provisions of this law.for transporting prisoners Ordered that the meeting be now adjourned until 10:00 o'clock A.M.
