Chalkley <br /> <br /> This beir4~ the day advertised for a joint meeting with the officials of the ~gh- <br />way Department for a public hearin~ on highway conditions in Chesterfield County, <br />Board of Supervisors on motion of T.D. ~mtkins, recessed for a period of time in order <br />to proceed with the pro,'ram as planned by the Highway Department. <br /> <br />~hereupon, ~. A.J. Nills, Resident Engineer, stated he had requested Hr. E.S.H. <br />Greene, Supt. of Schools of Chesterfield County to preside as Chairman over the <br />mettlng, who called upon the engineers of the Highway Department to explain to the <br />citizens attending some of the facts concerning the establishmend and development of <br />the Secondary Eighway Syctem in Ckesterfield County. <br />Whereupon, )~. Nills, Resident Engineer, ~ave a very interesting and enlighting re- <br />~ort on the development and work of the Highway Department since 1906, ~ncluding the <br />)resent allocations and some future plans for the improvement of the Secondary Road <br />~ystem ¥,ithin the County, az~ after a short talk by ~. P.W. Snead, District <br />t~,ere were many questions asked by the people who attended and such information was <br />obtained from the Highway officials concerning specific roads in the County. <br />~he publc hearing of the Hi~'hway Department being over, ~. H.T. Goyne, Chairman pro <br />tam, called the Board of Supervisors to order. <br /> <br />Fhis day ~. ~;.~. Bo~ner read a letter from ~. J.T. Eoore, requesting the Board of <br />'Supervisors to have the streets in "DuPont Square" taken into the Seconday System. <br />Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of W.~. Homer, it is resolved that the <br />Subdivider, ~. Thos. Bell, be conferred with and informed that in accordance with <br />a policy of the Board of Supervisors as to the recom~.~ndation for the taking into <br />the Secondary Road System of roads in subdivisions it would be necessary for the <br />subdivider to condition these roads to a point satisfactory ~ith the Resident Ln- <br />gineer of the Hight'ay Delmrtment. <br /> <br />This day the Executive Secretary reported to the Board t~t he had received a recuest <br />from the Virginia Blectric & Power Com,,any for permission to put the meter account <br />the Fair Counds in the name of F.L. Warren, v~o was to store equipment in the Fair <br />Buildings for the winter months. Upon investigation, it ~as learned from Mr. <br />that he had arranged with ~. J.G. McKesson, ~fanager of the Fair Association, to use <br />the buildings on the Fair Grounds, but since the Fair Ground Buildings were under <br />direction of the Board of Supervisors any action on the transfer of ..~ters should be <br />held for the consideration of the Board. <br />Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of J.C. Henin~, it is resolved that the <br />Board of Supervisors report any application by an individual for the use of the Fair <br />Ground Buildir~s. <br />~nd ke it further resolved that the Executive Secretary ~.e and he hereby is instruc- <br />ted to communicate with Nr. ~gcKesson and reeuest to see that any equipment which has <br />been stored in the Fair Grounds Buildings u~der an agreement with him, be removed. <br /> <br />~'his day the Executive Secretary presented a letter from the CoK~monwealth's Attcrney <br />i~. ~.~. Cogbill, stating that he had been requested by tMs. Helen Romaine to i~quir <br />of the Board of Supervisors if permission would be granted for her to temporarily u <br />the Red Cross BuilGing on the Fair Grounds as a place to live until she could erect <br /> home for herself. Upon consideration ~'~hereof, ama on motion of J.G.
