D. lia tkins <br /> <br />Absent: P.H.'-'ovington <br /> <br />This day again the matter of a resolution of the County School Board of <br />Chesterfield County, Virginia, which was presented to this Boerd in its meeting on <br />February 13, was presented to this Board regarding the approval of a loan of <br />$100,000.00 for the construction of a high school at Chester, and upon consideratio~ <br />whereof it is resolved, ! <br /> <br />That the application of the County School Board to the State Board of <br />Lducation of Virginia, for a loan of $100,000.00 from the Literary Fuhd, is hereby I <br />approved, and authority is hereby granted the said County School Board to borrow th~ <br />said amount for the purpose set out in said application. i <br /> <br />The Board of Su~rvisors for said County will each during the life of <br />this loan, at the time they fix the ref.ular levies, fix a rate of levy for schools <br />or make a cash appropriation sufficient for operation expenses and to repay this <br />loan in annual installments, and the interest thereon, as required by law regulat- <br />ing loans from the Literary Fund. <br /> <br />This day~again the matter of a resolution of the County School Board of <br />Chesterfield County, Virginia, which was presented to this Board in its meeting on I <br />February 13, was presented to this Board regarding the approval of a loan of I <br />$100,000.00 for the construction of a high school at Manchester, and upon considera1 <br />tion Whereof it is resolved, i <br /> <br />That the application of the County School Board to the State Board of <br />Education of Virginia, for a loan of ~lOO,OOO.OO from the Literary Fund, is hereby i <br />approved, and authority is hereby granted the said County to borrow the said amount i <br />for the purpose set out in said application. <br /> <br />The Board of Supervisors for said County will each year during the life <br /> <br />This day came E.S.n.Greene, Supt. of Schools of Chesterfield County, and <br />read before this Board a resolution of the County School Board in its <br />meeting of March 4, 1940 in the following words and PhBases: <br /> <br />"On motion of Dr. Richardson, it was ordered: First, that the Chester- <br />field County School Board request the Board of Supervisors to approve the <br />loan of $100,000.00 fOr the Manchester District High School addition and <br />$100,000.00 for the Chester High School addition as already requested by <br />a previous resolution, and <br /> <br />Second, that if the Board of Supervisors finds it possible to finance the <br />buildings and consider the consolidation of the high schools at two sites <br />as proposed by the Commission of the State Board of Education, that the <br />Chesterfield County School Board would heartily endorse this move and <br />readjust its bUdget acoordingly." <br /> <br />A motion was put by J.G.Hening and seconded by H.T.Goyne, to appropriate <br />$275,000.00 as the sum for making the neoessary improvements and additions to the <br />Chester and Manchester High Schools, and upon calling for a vote the motion was <br />lost. <br /> <br />The Executive Secretary read before tt~ Board a letter from R. Stuart <br />Royer, in the follo~~ng words and phrases: <br /> <br />:March 4, 1940 <br /> <br />Re: CH.4:-40 <br />Sewerage. Sewage Disposal and <br />'i~a ter Supply. <br /> <br />"In my agreement with the Board of Supervisors, I am not to begin <br />work on the final plans on the above referred to project in Chesterfield <br />County until approval by the ~Jorks Progress Administration. <br /> <br />I have just ohecked up on this project and find it has been approve~ <br />by the Richmond Distriot Office and is now in the hands of the State Off-j <br />ice of ',J.P.A. and will go to the Labo1" DiVision within the next few days.i <br />As soon as the ~abor Division approves it for the labor being available I <br />(Which w:l.ll require about two or three days), it will then go to Washing-Ii <br />ton for final approval.
