Whereupon, it is resolved on motion ofH. T. Goyne, that ~.Toler & Company, be, and it is hereby employed to audit the accounts of the County Treasurer for the fisoal year ending June 30, 1940, the compensation for sauie not to exceed $500.00 And be it further resolved that the said A.M. This day came, J.~.Turner, and others, asking this Board to repeal its ordinance prohibiting the sale of wine and beer between midnight of eaoh Saturd~ and 6:00 a.m. of the following Monday. "hereupon, it appearing to the Board that it is requtBad by Statute to hold public hearings before this Board of the Board's intention to repeal the afor~said ordinance, and is therefure resolved on motion of \;.A,Horner, that 10:00 a.m. lil.ay 1st, 1940, be, and 'it is hereby set a.a the time and date for a hearing of the proposed repeal of this Board's ordinance prohibiting the sale of wine and beer between midnight of each Saturday and 6:00 a.m. on the follow ing Monday. And be it further resolved that the Executive Secretary be, and he is hereby direct ed to make publication of the aforesaid hearing as required by Statute. This day, came, again, p. iv. ::inead, Resident Engineer, of the Virginia Department of Highways and submitted an amended budget as recommended by this Board. Whereupon and on motion of H. T. ~oyne, it is resolved that said Secondary System budget of 1940-'41 be, and the same is hereby approved as amended. On motion 01' H.T.~oyne, it is resolved that the Road Comoittee be, and the same is hereby rendered thanks for its valuable services performed. On motion of P.'i.Govington~ it is resolved that during the fiscal year, 1940-'41 the ~200.00 heretofore agreed upon to be paid to the Ettrick Sanitary Distriot ffl, for fire protection in outlying territory be, and the same is hereby ordered to be paid to bhe Ettrick Volunteer Fire Department. On motion of \i.J\.Horner, it is resolved that the 'Virginia Department of High- ways be, and i~ is hereby requested to construct its present #10 between the corpora~e limits ot the Uity of Richmond, southwardly to the Atlantic Coast Line R.R.Co's double track belt line, along and on its recent survey thereot. This day in accordance with the notice required by Law, this Board took under consideration for passage the proposed ordinance regulating the size of lots on which any house for human habitation is erected. Upon consideration, and'on motion of ....ri..hOrner, it is resolved that the said proposed ordinance be not adopted. This day a letter from J.E.Willoughby, Chief ~ngineer, A.C.L.RR.Company was read before the Board concerning the elminiation of the steep grade at Dunlop on Rt. #624 Upon consideration whereof, it is resolved that i~.S.Coburn, and P.W.Covington, are hereby appointed a Uommittee to confer with wr. \1m. ~hone of said Railroad Company concerning said matter. A copy of a letter from 9 .E. Idlloughby, Chief ~ngineer, of the Atlantic Coast ~ine RR. Company to ~r. J. B. Trenholm, Engineer of Maintenanoe of Way, Atlantic Coast Line RR. directing the repair to the overpass at Drewry's Bluff,Rt.#&41, was read before this Board and is filed. ' . . Vlhereas, this Board heretofore authorized the employment by the Trial Justice of I' his County of I~iss Bvelyn Johnson, for three days a vleek, and ~:hereas, it now appearing that she gives additional time to this work. On motiol H.T.Goyne, it is resolved that 111ss Evelyn Johnson be, and she hereby is employed or four days a week in the Trial Justice Court at $53.00 per month~ beBinning as of I his day. And ~e it further resolved that this County's budget be amended by the approprial ion of '35.00 from the General County :I!'und' s "Unappropriated Surplus" to "Compensa- I ion of assistant Trial Justice Clerk - code 5b - lO~b of the General EUnd. I I This day the Budget Committee of this Board recommended to this Board the adoptiln nd approval of the County SchoollBudget. Upon consideration of sane and it appear- ing proper to do so, it is recommended on motion of H.T.Goyne, that the said School udget as presented be, and the same is hereby approved and adopted. I This day there was presented by the Budget Committee of this Board its I ecoInmendations as to the budge~ of the Public "elfare Department 1.e., that this 1 ounty approve the same sum of money for the year July 1, 1940- June 30, 1941, as I hat which was appropriated and approved for the year 193~-'40. On motion, it is . esolved that the recommendations of the Budget Committee of this Board that it I include in its budget the same appropriation for the Local Department of Public I.el- are the same amount of money as that included in the budget for the budgetary year I 1939-'40 as the county's portion of said budget, to-wit: $18,203.57 I Whereas, this Board having heretofore fixed a time in which water connections I ,could be oade in the Bellmeade Sanitary District without charge to the consumer, and ~ Hhereas, upon investiration it is found that there are several instances in whichi ersons within the ~anitary District have requested water connections without the I intention to use the sane, and i I .ihereas, it was not, and is not now, the intention of this Board to make water ~ connections without the immediate use of same by the proposed customer: Now, Therefore, on motion of H.T.Goyne, it is resolved that there be made a char e of~12.50 for water connections in the Bellmeade Sanitary District for all connection Jhether the same be those which have been previously installed and not used or Which I have to be ins~lled ana connected, provided, hovlever, there is excepted from this I the provision of a case where installation has been made and used and discontinued I. and re-connected. I This day the .i!:ttrick Sanitary .uistrict.,ater Committee of this Board, acting I through its Chairman, P.V:.Covinrton, presented to this Board a formal contract, in duplicate, ana recommended that the Board adopt and execute the same and after such I execution the executed contract be forwarded to the Acting City Lanager of the City of retersburg for action of the City ~ouncil. On motion of P.".Covington, it is resolved that the contract so presented by the I .iater Comr:.ittee be adopted. And be it further resolved that the Chairman and ,'xecuti ve Secretary be, and they are hereby directed to execute the contract on be- I alf of the Board of .iupervisors and that the sane be in turn forwarued to the Actingj City Manager for the action of the ~ouncil of the ~ity of Petersburg.
