<br />On motion of Dr. Gill, seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that the.Executive
<br />Secretary be and he hereby ~s requested to answer a letter to the State Water
<br />Control Board.
<br />On motion of Mr. Hague, seconded by Mr. Goyne, it is resolved that this Board
<br />request the Judge of Circuit Court to appoint an attorney to search the title
<br />for the land being purchased from Mrs, John Cogbill.
<br />This day Mr. Stuart Taylor from the firm of E.Tucker Carlton, discussed the plan!s
<br />of the new building.and presented certain pictures and specifications of same.
<br />Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr. Britton, second e~ by Mr. Drisklll!,
<br />it is resolved that this Board request its Buildings and Cecounds Committee to
<br />review the plans and specifications of the new office buildiog and report its
<br />findi~l~ to this Board as soon aspossible.
<br />This day Mr. Sharp,, of the Bible Baptist Church, came before the Board seeking
<br />a variance from the restrictions of parking areas adjacent to churches,
<br />Upon consideration whereof and on motion of Mr.Britton, seconded by Mr. Goyne,
<br />it is resolved that this Board grant a variance to the Bible Baptist Chnrch
<br />located at the intersection of Vial Street and Columbia Avenue, which would
<br />allow said Church to locate a pa r~ing lot.some ~60 feet from the .Ghurch.
<br />On motion of Mr. Britbon~ seconded by Dr. Gill, it is resolved that this Board
<br />grant ~r.Wallace R. Owa~, Lot 1, Block E, Section G-?, Woodstock Section,
<br />a variance to allow th, construction of a garage 5 feet from his side line.
<br />This day there was read a ]etter from Mr. M.A.Cot:bill, thanking the County
<br />for the gift of a lounging chair, which ]~tter was ordered recmived and filed
<br />the Board's papers.
<br />This day the matter of selling the used cars now on hand was discussed, and on
<br />motion of Mr. Driskill, seconded by Mr.Britton, it is resolved that the County
<br />Purchasing Agent be authorized to accept the hi~hest healed bid after adequate
<br />advertisement has been mede in the local paper and through notification of all
<br />car dealers in the area.
<br />On motionof Dr. Gill, seconded by Mr. Hague, it i~ resolved that the resignation
<br />of Mrs. H. Claiborne Hawkins from the Board of Directors of the W.W.Baker Child
<br />Camp be accepted, and a letter oF thanks be written to Mrs. Hawkins thanking
<br />her for her services.
<br />~,is day a letter was read from the State Compensation Board agreeing to fix
<br />the compgnsation of Mr, G.H.Cogbill, Deputy Sheriff, at $3600.00 for t h~s year
<br />1956, which letter is ordered received and filed with the Board's papers.
<br />This day a letter was read from the Gramge Hall P.T.A. concerning the School
<br />Board resolution for $6,000,000.00 proposed by certain citizens of the County,
<br />which letter was received and filed with the Board's papers.
<br />This day a letter from the Chesterfield County Council P.T.A. endorsing the
<br />driver-training program in the Chesterfield County School System which letter
<br />was received and filed with the Board's papers.
<br />This day a letter from Hr. Irvin G.Horner, member of the Board of Supervisors,
<br />was read, commending the fire departments of Clover Hill, Manchester, and
<br />Wagstaff Circle and any other fire departments aiding in this fire, in their
<br />fine work in fighting fire at the home ,~f Mr. J.R.~oolridge in Clover Hill Distri.
<br />On motion of Mr.Driskill, seconded by Hr.Britton, it is resolved that this Board
<br />appoint Mr. J.J.Jewett, Attorney from Midlotbian~ to be a member of the Board
<br />of Directors of the W.W.B~ker Child Camp, Inc. filling the vacancy created by
<br />~he resignation of Mt.William Old, now Judge of the Circuit Court.
