,, N AGENDA
Meeting Date: October 31, 2008 Item Number: 3.
Subject:
Authorization to Honor Robert McRae by Placing a Plaque on the Weaver
Athletic Field House
County Administrator's Comments:
County Administrator:
Board Action Requested:
Authorize placing a plaque on the Weaver Athletic Field House to honor Robert
McRae and adoption of the attached resolution.
Summary of Information:
Mr. Gecker has requested that the Board authorize placing a plaque on the
Weaver Athletic Field House honoring the accomplishments of Robert McRae.
Mr. ("Coach") McRae's activities in the Weaver Football Association are
defined by his passionate commitment to each individual participant. His
focus has always been not just on athletics but the teaching of life skills
such as respect, responsibility and honesty. The School Board member from
Midlothian, Ms. Carpenter supports this recognition. Since the County is the
owner of all school property, the Board must approve placing commemorative
plaques on public buildings. The plaque will be paid for from non-
governmental, volunteer contributions. Coach McRae will be given this honor
at a special ceremony this weekend.
