1955-10-13 PacketEl VIRGINIA: At an adjourned meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County, held at the Courthouse on October 139 1955p at 7:45 p.m. Present: we Irvin G. Horner, Chairman Mr. H. T. Goyne Mr. T.PeGuater Dr. Robt. 0, Gill Mr. R.J.Britton Mr. Stanley R.Hague, Jr. This day Mr. Harold Walker and Mr. Qeo• W. Moore, Jr. met with the Board and explained procedures in printing the Land Book and other operations in the Commissioner of Revenue's Office. It was stated that it would be possible to keep the present two billing machines and purchase an addressograph to facilitate the operation in the Commissioner of Revenue's Office. Mr. Moore stated that the bookkeeping machine on which chedks are written and books posted for the County needed to be replaced. Both of these requests were discussed at length and the Treasurer and Commissioner of the Revenue were asked to get prices and make the necessary requests in writing. The Metter of partial assessments was discussed briefly. Mr.7.T.Rose, County Assessor, stated that the books were closed as of JulT l and few, if any, particl assessments would be jut on this year, however, in the year to cane it would be possible to expand this operation to a greater extent. On motion of Mr.Hague, seconded by Mr. Coyne, it is resolved that the motion of this Board to authorize the Executive Secretary to purchase a Beyer Duplicator be and the same is hereby rescinded. This day the Executive Secretary presented prices on three types of mimeograph ra chines, all of which had been tested and tried by his office and recommended that he be allowed to purchase the Gestetner machine for a price not to exceed $650.00, which amount will include the allowance for the old A.B.Dick machine and also furnish a table stand for the new machine. On motion of Mr.Cunter, seconded by Mr -Britton, it is resolved that this Board adjourn to a Committee session to hear Zr. Sommer Pearson, and Mr.W.H.Ca]dwell. The Board reconvened at the Chairmants order. VAS, it appears to be in the best interest of the citizens of the Bellwood and Heights Subdivision, that property in that area be rezoned for:Residential purposes,, t 19 _2_ Whereas, the citizens in"the area are desirous of some protection from the encroachment of business on one side and industry on the other,` Now, Therefore, Be it Resolved, on motion of Mr.Goyne, seconded by Mr.Gu4ter, that the property within the following boundaries be advertised for rezoning to Residential-2, That property bounded on the East by the Seaboard:.=airline Railroad, on the South by the residential zone approximately,300 feet north of Willis Road., on the West by Resi&ntial-2 and general business .zone, and on the North by Kingsland Creeks !and be it furtbe r resolved, that this rezoning be set for November 9#19559 at 2:00 p.mo This day the Executive Secretary presented a letter along with a check from Mr, Marshall Driskill, which check was sent to reimburse the County for registration fee to the iochl Government Officials' Conference in Charlottesville, paid in error by the County. Upon consideration whereof and on motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by MroGunter, it is resolved that said check be received anad app?.ied to the account from -which it was drawn. Ile Burnett Executive Secretary, Chesterfield County Chesterfield, Virginia Dear Mr. Purnett; Due to the fact that I have not taken over officially as a member of the Board of Supervisors, I am attaching hereto my check in the amount of $10*00, which is to reimburse the County of Chesterfield for the same amount they paid me as registration fee charged at the National County Officials Conference recently held in Charlottesville. I feel that this should be handled as a personal expense. I want to thank the members of the Board for the invitation to attend this conference and I believe the knowledge gained will be beneficial to both me and the County in the years to come.
