Mr. Sullivan called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. (EST) at
the ~eaduwbrook High School Auditorium.

County voters in 1986, adopted by the General Asse~17 in 1987
and which bec~ effective January 1, 1988.

fill~ by Mrs. Eliz~eth B. Davis ~o fill th~ unexDir~d
and noted the selection process is being repeated at this t~e

a four (4) year
The Clerk ind&cat~4 only one individual, ~rs. Eliz~e~
Davis, had signed the sheet indicating her desire to serve as
tho DRi~ District representative to ~he Sch~uI Boar~. Mr.
Sullivan outlined the criteria re~ired of those individuals
su~king this appuin~at, re~ested ~y oa~idates wishing
be considered to sign in and e~lain~d th~ pzocedur~ by which
each candidate would be called to present h~self/herself.
stated that any person not present and identified at this
meeting may not be considered for appoin~ent and in,ired

there was anyone else present who wished to sign up &= this
time ~or consideration. NO one came forward, and Mr. Sullivan
indicated only one person would be considered for appointment
as the School Board representative.
Mrs. ~!izabeth B. Davis came forward and s~ated ~ke was
Magisterial District.
Mr. Daniel stated ~hat, although only one candidate had come
forward for sppoin~ent to the School Board seat, he felt it
important that the puJolie hearing process be carried out and
that the ~andldate and any ~uDporters present be allowed to
speak.
Mrs. Elizabeth B. Davis fermelly declared hsrsal£ a candidate
for appointment to the School Board from the Dale Magisterial
Diutrict for the period of July 1, 1991 through June 30, 1995.
She outlined her qualifications and experience and stated she
wished to be appointed because she cared about a quality
education syutem and she desired ~o be a voice for the
students, parents and teachers of the County.

voiced support fo/ the appoi~tmen~ cf ~, ~lizabetk Davis to
the Chesterfield Count~ School Boar~ for the Dale District as
they felt her q~$1ifioations/ex~er:ise in ~he educational
iiel~ qualified h~r for tho position; that she haz represented
the Dale District WCtl while currently commie=ins the remain-
der of 9Lt. ~riffin Burton's term; that s~e possesses fine
qualities sad displays a genuine concern for the welfare of
the students and school system; that she is a parent with
~hildren in the school system, involved i~ eo~lmit~ and
church activities concerned with youth; that she understands
the intricate details of the school administration and her
previous experience on =he School Board is a valuable asset in
re!atcd decision-msking processes; that sh~ is ~pproaohable
and responsive to the concerns an~ seeds of he~ constitu~nts~
and that sh~ is an individual cf integrity and genuine
caring, committed to educational excellence.
Nr. Daniel state~ he had no c/~estions to ask Mrs. Davis ~u~
Rot~d that he was very familiar with her activities during her
interim term on the school Board ~he previous year and could
attest to her diligence in the job and her commitment to the
school ~ystem and the public. Ne other Board mumbers had
questions of ~rs. Davis~
~r. Sullivan inquired i~ =here were any other individuals
present who wished to be considered as candidates for
appointment as ~he Dale Dis%riot School Board representative.
Ther~ being no further candidates to announce their c~n~idaey,
he ~losed th~ public hearing and stat~ ~0 o~he~ nominations
may h~ considered. He indicated nomination would occur at a
future~ regularly scheduled Board meeting.
~ir. Daniel s~a~ed the a~vertisement of the public hearing was
such that the Board could, at this tLme, ne~inate/&pDoint Mrs.
Davis. Mr. M/oas indicated it would ~e nscessar!z for the
Board to suspend the rules to nominate/appoint the candidate
at this time.
On motion of Mr. Daniel, seconded by ~r. Mayas, ~he Board
suspended the rule~ ~c allow simultaneous nomination/appoint-
ment of a candidate as the Dale Magisterial District school
Boar~ =epresentative.

On motion of ~r. Daniel, seconded by Mr. Mayas, the Board
simultaneously nominated/appointed Mrs. Elizabeth B. Davis to

serve as the Dale Magisterial District Sshool Board

e~pirea June 30, 1995.

The Board congratulated Mrs. Dav~s on hex
Mrs. Davis e~upressed appreciation to the Board for their
support ~nd to those persons who were pre~ent to speak for her
candidacy; ~nd further, she reaffirmed her commitment and
efforts to work through existing a~d future problems that may
~r. Daniel s=a~ed he felt that =he ~act that ~Lrs. Davis was
unopposed was a statement of public solidarity £0r he~
pergormanee and noted that there was not a lack
District issues as the Dale Network me~ti~g~ were well
