WO~KSESSIO~ Mr. Ramsey stated the purpose of the work sesszon wa~ provide Budget. Mrs. Copeland expressed appreciation for the opportunity to meet with the Board of supervisors to discuss the School Budget and stated Dr. Davis and his sta~ were present to answer any 9~/estiens and/er provide any clarification that the Board may hav~ regarding the School Budget. She presented an overview o~ the proposed School Budget addressing major aceomplishmeats, impacts of the $4~ million red~ction from the ori~inal budget target of $227 million; outlined operatiag and capital services that would impacted by the budget reductions either through reduction~ in Dia¢~ssion, ~ues~iona and tenements ensued relative to the ~ignificance of increased classroom sizes and its impact on students and modification to the distance st=dents would have to walk =u designated ~u~ mtops~ th~ potential for receiving additional Statm fundlng: in what c~tegories such funding wo~ld be utilized i~ available to the School System; the need additional funding, those ~unds would be first used for a~dit~onal funding received into the instructional process but were ma~e available for this purpose, =he public should be mad~ aware of which schcol~ wo~ld be affected. He also requested staf~ provide a complete fixed budget analysis of 91-~10 04/03/91 all positions except teacher, ets., with same to be review- ed/~valuatud and target d~t~s provide~ as to when ~aid s~udy would be completed. He further stated the purpose of the public hearing~ is to allow Cou_qty residents the opportunity to ex%ureas their opinions relative to these issues but due to the number of i~ividual~ wishing to s~sak and th~ numerous issues that needed to be addressed, he would ask that rheas persons wishing speak limit their remarks uu three minutes~ indicated there were sign-up sheets available on the podium for those and stated the Boa~d would hear public comment tonight but wo~ld nQ~ take astio~ on thsss issues at this m~ting but at the April 10, 1991 meeting. 6.A.
