Mr. McMale called the regularly scheduled m~eting ~o order at
7:10 p.m. in the Public Meetinq Room.

Reverend Billy Souther, Pastor of Southsid= Baptist Church,
gave the invocation.

Mr. Daniel ~tated the pmblic hearing ~reoess for School Board
r~presentatives is in accordance with the chesterfield ceunty
adopted by the General Assembly in 1987, and which became
existing appointment ~rocess with elected school board~. He
to serve a ~our year term beginning J~nua~y 1, 1996. He

It was indicated one individual, Hrs. Elizabeth "Beth" Davis,

Mr. McHala inquired if there was anyone else present who wished
to be considered for appointment to the School Board from Dale
candidacy.
~trs, Davis declared herself a oandidate for appointment to the
School Board from Dale Magisterial District and submitted her
resume to the Board. She outlined her education,
qualifications, and experience and stated continued work
necessary in =he areas of lowering pupil teacher ratios;
improving toohnolo~for all County schools; staff development;
building maintenance; and programming. She further stated she
is proud to serve tho citizens of the county and assist in
delivering q~ality education to children. She pledged to
cantinas to diligently serve the oitizen$ to the best of her
ability.
Mrs. Davis introduced her son, Matthew~ and her husband, Jim,
who were present at the meeting and expressed appreciation
them and others for their support.
Mr. Daniel stated Mrs, Davis offered herself as a candidate in
I9~0 to fill an unexpired term; that ~h~ off-red herself again
and was the sole candidate in 1991; and, at this time~ offers
h~rg~lf again a~ th~ gol~ candidate. Me further ~tated
Davis has the support and confidence of her constituents. He
stated an agenda item will be prepared for the next regularly
consider the nomination/appointment of Mrs. Davis to the school
Board representing Dale District.
Mr. Warren stated he has personally known Fhfs. Davis for a
fH~the~ stated he ~uppoMts Mrs, Davis for reappointmen% to the
Mr~ Davi~ and look~ fo~ard to continue working with her in
the future. He further stated he and ~s. Davis attende~
Virginia Political Leadership Institute together and he has
great /e~pect for the work Mrs. Davis has accomplished whale
s~rving on the School Board.
Mr. McHale then in, ired if there was anyone else present who
wished to bs considered for appointment to %he school Board

There being no one else to announce their candidacy,
hearing was closed.
