Presentatien~ on the G~eater Richmond Chamber of Commerc~ TranmDortatien study were made by Mr. Bill Boinest, Chairman Emeritus of Cr&igie, Inc. and Chairman of the Transportation Study Task Force; Mr. Richard Beadles, President and CEO of Realty Advisors, Inc. and Mr. John B. Thompson, ThOmpSon an~ MedUllas. Discussion points included ADA financial bar~iers and ~eint bus $e%-vio~ along Route 60 to John Tyler community college. Mr. Lane Ramsay, Chesterfield County Administrator, led th~ presentation by announcing th~ int~ntio~ Of t~e region to apply for All America City and Community racognlt~en. ~e noted the significance a~d ben,fits of submitting a regional application. Mr. Glenn Let=on, AsEi~tant Director of Ches=erfield County Planning Department~ sade a presentation on t~e application, the projects bsing ~ubmitted and showed a video on the 1994 All America City pro,ram. T~E Mayor Leonldms Young of the City of Richmond introduced and facilitated =his session. The first presentation was made by Dr. James Has$inger, Director o~ the Richmond Kegional Planning District r~port=d on the WO~ Of Fee~s ForWard and the recommendations Mr. Ber~ Winterbottom, Principal with LDR International and' ~re=entar. ~e ~har~ inXermatiun on what sums other localities dev~lop a plan ~cr Kichmond. He also conducted a brainstorming/ affinity exercise With the attendees on the importance of Should b$, The results of this e~ercise are attached. The ~ro~p recessed for lunch from 12:40 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Richmond Partnership. This session was inkroduaed and fia~ilikate~ by Mr. Harry ~, Daniel, Chairman of the Chesterfield County Board of supervisors. The presentation was made by.~r. Gregory Wingfield, President Of %he Greater Richmond Partnership. In ad4i%ion to highlighting work ~¢tlvity of the Partnership for the past ~i~ months, Mr. wingfield identified new initiatlvee ~dsr consideration by Partnership. ~RAP-UP;DECI~ION POINTS At the conclusion of the meeting, regional elected officials adopfed the following action items related to the presentations and discussions. ~, ~anagers meet to develop a plan and process to bring back to the elected bodies to addres~ A.D.A. issues related to transportation s~rvioes and financial impacts/b~neflts to the region and each locality. The plan ~halI include an examination of =he legal and federal legislativ~ issues ~' relating to A.D.A. 2.. ~upport the efforts of the Tran~portution Study Task various proDosal~ in the trnnRportation study to be con~i~ere~ ~or su~or~ by the ~our jurlsdio~ion~, City and Co--unities designation. 4. Downtown Richmond i~ a ~pecial part of the region. ~e j~isdic~ion~ endors~ ~h~ city's ~ffor~ =o ~n~anoe ~e continued develo~ent and promotion of downto~ Ric~ond. Planning directors or desi~ne~s from each j~i~diction will ~ve on the Do.town Plan Advisory Co~ittee in an ex officio, non- voting capacity and provide appropriate input about Downto~ move forward plan~ to expand the convention c~ter, and bring tho~e reco~endatioms to th~ Chie~ ale=ted officials for coordination wi~ its governing bodies and other 1996-~7.
