I would like to ask the Board to strongly consider acting upon it and would so offer a motion. This is c~ the Brandermill school site. I would like to say that the Planning Conraission went on record with this resolution after reconn~ndations from our County Planning staff after meeting with the School BOard some 60 days or so ago. Thirteen hours after we passed this resolution in the Planning Conmission, the editor of the News Leader saw fit to put forth some information that is very misleading to the public, in nl; opinion. He stated, in effect, chastised the Planning Co~nission for spending a half of a million dollars and nore or less words that we were just blowing it. I would like to bring so.me facts to the attention of the Board in support of the Planning staff and Planning Commission. Back prior to the bond issue on June 4th, whan a scandal sheet got out pertaining to $21,000,000 of this issue being used in Brandermill, Dr. Sullins publicly quoted in the paper that the den- sity was in the Courthouse, well, first he branded it an absolute lie. %he density was in the Courthouse tbad area and, at best, Brandermill sites would be a second or third choice. Approxi- mately 60 days or so later, the Planning Commission met with the School Board.. At that time, it was conceded that the Condrey Tract which was located on Courthouse Road was the nunber one I r~call a ~sonal conversation wit~ Dr. Sullins prior to the bond i~gum and in a request from 38O later in ~he d~'. On motion of MI~. GizDne, secoaded by ~r. Myers, it was resolved that $1,468 be appropriated f~ the Unappropriated Surplus of the Ceneral Fund to 11-500-604.0 Terminal Builc~ng.
