On motion of Mr. Dodd, seconded by Mr. Bookman, the Board went

Mr. Robertson made the following statement:
"The Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors and our delegation
to the General Assembly have evaluated the recent strides made in
addressing the County's road problems by the State Highway
Department and the cooperation shown by all of the elected
representatives in helping us reach our highway goals.
Congressman Bliley has been responsive in approving the 5¢ gas
tax; Commissioner King has exhibited an awareness of and an
interest in helping the County to achieve needed road
improvements; the regional General Asselmbly delegation headed by
Senator Willey is addressing the future of the tolls on
Richmond-Petersburg Turnpike and our own Toll Road Authority has
reviewed the funding of Powhite Parkway. All have led the Board
to a very positive, optimistic view of the potential for
resolving a number of the critical road needs in Chesterfield and
the region in the foreseeable future. In consideration of all of
these facts and in the expectation that the Countv and the State
will work together to solve the County's pressing road needs, the
Board has chosen to forego the option of further litigation
affecting the location of Interstate 1-295."
On motion of Mr. Dodd, seconded by Mrs. Girone, the Board
adjourned at 5:45 p.m. until 10:00 a.mo on January 26, 1983.
Vote: Unanimous
