Stegmaier Summary of Actions Taken by the Board on April 25, 2012 3:00 P.M. SESSION COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR’S COMMENTS Mr. Jack Berry, President and CEO of the Richmond Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau updated the Board on RMCVB activities. Ms. Elizabeth Paradis Stern, Chief of Interpretation, Richmond National Battlefield Park provided a presentation to the Board about the Sesquicentennial of the American Civil War events planned for the Richmond Region from May-July. Mr. Stegmaier was pleased to report that last week BGB Technology Inc. announced plans to establish their first U.S. facility in Chesterfield County. BGB designs and manufactures electrical and optical slip ring assemblies for rotary applications, including components for wind turbine systems. The company plans to invest over $2 million and employ 15 as they ramp up their new operation. The new facility will be located on Port Walthall Drive in southern Chesterfield. Mr. Stegmaier announced that the Government Finance Officers Association recently notified the Accounting Department that the County’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2011, received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. This is the 31st consecutive year that the Accounting Department has achieved this recognition. BOARD MEMBER REPORTS Mr. Holland announced he attended the Deerfield Civic Association meeting regarding a traffic calming study for the neighborhood on April 17th. He also attended the Greater Richmond Chamber’s intercity visit to Boston, as Chairman of the Richmond Metropolitan Convention & thth Visitors Bureau (RMCVB), on April 18 – 20 and will be sharing many exciting opportunities for the county that he learned about in Boston.
