Summary of Actions Taken by the Board on October 24, 2012
3:00 P.M. SESSION
COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR'S COMMENTS
• Mr. Stegmaier was pleased to report that on December 7th at the Richmond Marriott,
Virginia Commonwealth University will present to the county one of the "Excellence in
Virginia Government Awards." Chesterfield Economic Development and the
Chesterfield Library will receive the "Innovation in Government Award" for the
economic development outreach program - "My Business Starts Here."
• Mr. Stegmaier announced that a dedication ceremony for the new headstock and
amphitheater at Midlothian Mines Park was held on October 20th. The event was held
as part of Midlothian Mines Day and in conjunction with the Midlothian Village
Festival.
• Mr. Stegmaier reported that Colonial Kia recently received its occupancy certificate for
its new Kia dealership in the Walthall area.
Dr. Debbie Sydow, President of Richard Bland College, provided an update on activities at the
college.
Students from county high schools who are participating in Model County Government Day
introduced themselves and provided the name of the county offical they will shadow. Faculty
advisors also participated in the introductions.
RESOLUTIONS
Adopted Resolution recognizing Assistant Chief Mark Shreve, Defense Logistics
Agency Fire and Emergency Services, for his outstanding professional
accomplishments.

Approved Amendment to the County Code relating to hunters possessing firearms
near county schools and parks and providing for a penalty.
