On motion of Mr. Apperson, seconded by Mr. Purdy, it is resolved that the following
water contracts be and they hereby are approved: ~ ~

On motion of Mr. Dietsch, seconded by Mr. Apperson, it is resolved that the County
Engineer be authorized to install a water main on Boroughbridge Road to serve the
13 connections involved in this project.
On motion of Mr. Apperson, seconded by Mr. Dietsch, it is resolved that the contrac~
with the Highway Department for utility adjustments on Rt. 147 be and it hereby is
approved.
On motion of Mr. Apperson, seconded by Mr. Dietsch, it is resolved that the follow-
lng sewer contracts be and they hereby are approved:

The County Engineer cited the fact that there was a need for sewage treatment servi
for four people on Swift Creek at Route #1, that he had talked unofficially with
officials of the City of Colonial Heights who may be able to accept a certain amoun
of sewerage from the County at this location.
Upon consideration of these facts, it is On motion of Mr. Purdy, seconded by Mr.
Browning,' it is resolved that the City of O01onial Heights be requested formally to
enter into an agreement with the County to take a limited amount of sewerage at thi.

Mr. Maynard Elrod explains his plan for hiring six (6) men with adequate equipment
for a drainage program at a cost of $47,980.00.
Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr. Dietsch, seconded by Mr. Browing,
it is resolved that the sum of $47,980.00 be appropriated to Item 11-101-123.0 in
the County's Engineering budget to finance the equipment, men and materials for im-
proving the drainage in the County of Chesterfield.
On motion of Mr. Browning, seconded by Mr. Apperson, it is resolved that permits be
authorized for the C & P Telephone Company to install lines at the Chester Library
and in the new Courthouse.
On motion of Mr. Dietsch, seconded by Mr. Browning, it is resolved that the follow-
ing street names be changed:
Rt. 708 to Carver Heights Drive
Deershire Drive to Newquay Lane
There was discussed a drainage request from Mr. Thomas P. Wirt, 2906 Elmore Lane
which complaint was referred to the Drainage Engineer.
On motion of Mr. Dietsch, seconded by Mr. Apperson, it is resolved that due to the
Increased building in the Reedy Creek area and due to the problems which exist in
the drainage system in this area at the present time that the County Drainage Engi-
neer be requested to investigate the Hiring of consultants to study the entire
drainage area and ascertain what cost this would be and the scope of the project,
and to report back to this Board.
On motion of Mr. Dietsch, seconded by Mr. Purdy, it is resolved that June 1'2, 1969,
at 7:30 P.M. be set as a date for a public hearing on the drainage ordinance.
On motion of Mr. Browning, seconded by Mr. Purdy, it is resolved that the County of
Chesterfield cooperate with the City of Petersburg in seeking from the Highway De-
partment a continuing transportation study so that the area can receive Federal
Funds for the construction of trafficways.
On motio~ of Mr. Apperson, seconded by Mr. Purdy, it is resolved that the request
of the Midlothian Fire Department for a new piece of fire equipment be referred to
the Fire Committee.
On motion of Mr. Dietsch, seconded by Mr. Martin, it is resolved that the request
to p'urchase two brush trucks and the specifications for same be referred to the Fir~
Chiefs for study and recommendation.
There was read a letter from Mr. Robert E. Carter, Chief Investigator of the Fire
Marshal,s Office, highly commending Mr. Robert Eanes for the work done in a recent
fire case in the County.
Upon the recommendation of Fire Chiefs of the County and on motion of Mr. Apperson,
seconded by Mr. Browning, it is resolved that the County Purchasing Agent be autho-
rized to purchase 9 hand held radios at $625.00 each.
On motion of Mr. Dietsch, seconded by Mr. Apperson, it is resolved that the various
Fire Chiefs be requested to list all of the fire equipment needed for the coming
year by a certain date so that annual purchases may be effected, and that the date
be set by the Purchasing Agent in conjunction with the Fire MarShal.
On motimn of Mr. Browning, seconded by Mr.Purdy, it is resolved that a load of grav-
el be purchased for the Ettrick Fire Department due to certain changes in the park-
ing area.
On motion of Mr. Apperson, seconded by Mr. Browning, it is resolved that the reques'
of the Wagstaff Fire Department for 30 yds. of cement for the driveway be referred
to the Fire Committee.
On motion of Mr. Dietsch, seconded by Mr. Martin, it is resolved that a street ligh'
be installed at the intersection of Fawnbrook Boulevard and Hey Road.
On motion of Mr. Browning, seconded by Mr. Purdy, it is resolved that the following

On motion of Mr. Dietsch, s~conded by Mr. Browning, it is resolved that a request
for changing certain road w~dths in the Woodstock Development Plan be referred to
the Planninq and Engineering Departments for recommendation.
On motion of Mr. Dietsch, seconded by Mr. Apperson, it is resolved that the offer
for a road right of way by the Southern Materials Company be accepted, provided sam~
can be done without the guarantee of constructing this road by the County.
On motion of Mr. Dietsch, seconded by Mr. Apperson, it is resolved that the Common-
wealth's Attorney be requested to investigate the County's car license ordinance in
conjunction with the State ordinance and make recommendations of necessary changes.
On motion of Mr. Apperson, seconded by Mr. Dietsch, it is resolved that a Variance
be g~anted to Mr. S. G. Compassi for the construction of a dwelling at the end of
Tucker Road, provided a 50-ft. road right of way be dedicated to the County and it
is understood that Mr. Compassi will build this portion of the road if required by
the County.
On motion of Mr. Purdy, seconded by Mr. Dietsch, it is resolved that the section of
State Route $903, known as Krause Road, being formerly the Old Hundred Road, in
front of the Chesterfield County Courthouse, be and it is hereby abandoned for the
purpose of being altered in accordance with the plans made by the Engineering Depar'
ment of the County of Chesterfield all pursuant to Statute for such cases made and
provided.
Be it further resolved, that the Executive Secretary submit forthwith a true copy oJ
this resolution along with a copy of the plans prepared by the Engineering Depart-
ment to the State Highway Commission for approval.

On motion of Mr. Martin, seconded by Mr. Purdy, it is resolved that this meeting
adjourn at 12:15 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. on May 28, 1969.
