This letter is a strong opposition to the rezoning of a
partial of la~d connecting 9529 [i[idlothian Pike or the St. i[ark~s
unite¢'.. [°ethodist Church owner by [ir. ['red Pearce and to be considered
at the Supervisors meeting on [[arch ~th. The change of zoo' ning
considered is from ~gricultural (a) to Local Business (C-I). We
are oppose~ to the rezoning for the following reasons:
(1) Because of the unique operation of the church, many catigories
under the C-1 zoning would be u~desirable adjacent to its lot
if the property in question should go o~ the open market to
the highest bidder.
(2) Though there is one small lot which is C-1 beside the parcial
in question~., that lot is not ~_,c~acent to the church ~no.-~ ~ the
remaining property from Tuxford [~oa¢~. to the Pocono Subdivision
on the same side of Highway 6C is residential, in short~ it
would be "spo~t zoning" two lots which are "land locked" in
a residential-area. "~
(3) ?[e feel like the highest and best use of this land is through
a Use Permit (which we have ne~-er opposed) that the property
rm~h.~s of the church and nearby subdivision can be protected
by csreful control.
~?e would like to register objection to the filing of this
?roperty for rezoning on the following grounds:
(1) Sa. id property has been refused C-1 zoning in the past and
Pearce has made a nuisance of himself by continuing to try to
have the property rezoned oYer the best opinions of the Board
of Supervisors, interested parties, and subdivision associations.
(2) ~t no tithe, either in the past or i~ connection with the present
rezoning, have we as an interested party and adjacent property
ovmer been notified of the Zoning Board meetings. ?'/e feel like
deliberate efforts have been made to "hush up" the proceedings
in the hopes that rezoning ~ay be ~ccomplished without the
church's knowledge.
