On,motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by Mr.;,.~person, it is resolved that contract
Y-~63 for the installation of water on ]?~erriwood Road be and the same is hereby
approved.
On motion of Mr.Britton, seconded by~'lr. Apperson, it is resolved that the permit to
cross the Seaboard Airline Ry. at Merriewood Road ba and it hereby is approved,
subject to the amproval of the Commonwealth's Attorney.
On motion of Mr.Apperson, seconded by Mr.~"..artin, it is resolved that the Board
amend the agreement with the Seaboard Airline Ry. at its requests for the permit
to cross the Railroad property in the vicinity of Sloan's Apartments at Falling Czteek.
On[ motion of i'~'lr. Britton, seconded by I',',r. Horner, it is resolved that contract
S-6~-38C for the installation of sewers along Route #1 to the Roadway Express
Company be awarded to the Roanoke Construction Company in the total amount of
$7~93.00.
This day the Board considered the request of A.S.Gesham,Jr. and Ruby E.Gresham,
his wife, and the Engineering Department of Chesterfield County to a~andon the
sewer easement acquired by the County of Chesterfield by Agreement between a.S.
Gr,esham, Jr. and Ruby E. Gresham, his wife, and the County of Chesterfield,Virginia,
darted December 16, 19o3, and recorded January 7, 196g in Deed Book 735, Page 187,
in the Clerk's Office of the Cirtuit Court of Chesterfield County,Virginia.
Now, Therefore, on motion of Mr.Britton, seconded by kr.Horner, Be it Resolved:
That the Chairman and Clerk of this Board are authorized to execute the deed
relinquishing and releasing the aforesaid easement to A.S.Gresham, Jr. and Ruby E.
Gr~esham, his wife, and deliver said deed to them.
There arose a general discussion ss to the feasibility of installing sewers at the
new Forest Hill School.
There was read a letter from the Pinchbeck Realty Company making certain requests
for free sewer connections due to ~he installation of sewer z~cilities in this
area ten years ago. Whereupon, the County Engineer recommended that the Zounty
assure the ownership of the existing sewer lines, es~,~bli ' the connection
charge of }260.00 per existing home, .{ii1OO.O0 for a hook-up within four ..'~onths time~
and no credit be given for the installation of this line since it .~..'ould Ne incon-
sistent to our present policy. ~]pon consideration whereof~ ~i~r".,d on motion of
Britt. on~ seconded hy ?ir.Browning, it, is resolve{i %hat this ~'oard accepts Lhe
re, commendation of the County Engineer.
On re_orion of l-~'.Norner, seconded by Nr.Brit~on, it is resolved that thi~ 13oard
approves the purchase of the Eltett Tract on the ~wift Creek Reservoir in the
amount of :37951.50 for 115.17 acres.
Nr. Oraham Jennings, representing Nr.~.W.F!ippo, comes before the Board requesting
A Variance from County policies to allow a private well as a water source for a
trailer cou.rt which trailer court is adjacent tn the County water line on Route ,Pi.
'i'he Commonwealth's Attorney, raised certain ouestions as to the requirements of
the 'County and State laws and suggested that this matter be deferred. Upon
consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr. Goyne, seconded by N~r. Browning~ it is
resolved that this matter be deferred to January 13, 1965 at 9:0Oa.m.

18,'1959 and Plat Book 13, pa~es ~9 a~d'90 recorded April 6, 196~. '
There was read a letter from the Seaboard Airline Ri%. citing the fact that in
1965 a hew span would be constructed to replace the existing span in the vicinity
of Rt.615.
On motion of Nr.~pperson, seconded by }.ir.~artin, it is resolved that t¼e ~appiication
of the Co~nonwealth Gas Distribution Corporation for the installation of a 2"
natural gas pipe line across Shell Roadaccording to a plat dared October 21,196~,
and designed as D-7~-E,filed ':~ith the Board's paper s, be, and the same is hereby
a~proved.

Fehr~:ary 13, lg63 to investigate %he traffic condition of Ralloway Avenye; and
WHEREAS, the present Supervisor of Natoaca District has requested bv resolution
dated February 27, 196g that this road be improved; and

WHEREAS, Halloway Avenue is excessively narrow so that two 'buses encounter great
hardship in passing at certain locations,

that this Board requests the Highway Department to include Halloway Avenue in the
coming year's budget for widening and other improvements, to start immediately
in planning the improvements and rights of way necessary and a~ soon as weather
permits to w~den and improve Hailoway ,~,'venue so th~:t the citizens and school
children usie~ this road will not be subjected to unnecessary hazards.

on what the County should do on this program.

approves the request, of Nr.~'[.B.Hutcheson for his sustained damage to his well
which he stated ~as caused ~y the installation of ~ 26-ft. trench in the street
construction for the installation of sewers, which request is that the County
~av one-half the cost of deepening bis well not to exceed ~100.OO with the firm
understanding that this action ~s not an admission of respon~mbzlm~y in this matte~.

from Residential2 to General Business (C-2) in Manchester Magisterial District~ of a
parcel of land fronting 160 feet on the east line of Broad Rock i{oad (Route 10}
and 150 feet on the south line of Epperson Avenue and better known as 3201 and
3207 ~;~est Broad Rock Road. It was citled that the Planning Co~nission reco~mendedi~
that the request be reduced to Local Bu~siness; ~he applicant agrees to this re-
duction. There appearing no one in opposition to this request, it is on motion
of )Ir. Homer, seconded by ~:Ir. Apperson, resolved that the aforedescribed parcel of
land be~and'it hereby is resoned to C-i, Local Business.

Mr.J.L. Longest comes before the Board requesting the rezoning in Dale
Magisterial District from Agriculture to Residentiai-2 of a 120-acre parcel of
land Of irregular shape, fronting 1239 feet on the north line of Ecoff Street
(Route 1502) and extending northwardly 1650 feet, and fronting 700 feet on the
south' line of Ecoff Street and extending snuthwardly approximately ~00 feet to
a frontage of 600 feet on the north line of Route 10 at its intersection wi¥,h the
T&W ~ailrOad right of way. Said parcel being approximately 2000 feet east of
ChaIkley Road (Route 632) and better known as the proposed subdivision of Lake-
wood Farms.
It fs cited that the Planning Oommission recommended approval of this request.
Mr. Longest states that his property does not go to Route 10 and amends his
application to the limits of the Creek. There app~ring no one in opposition

receives the petition from the citizens in the Carver Home Sites area opposing
the construction of a box factory in their community.
On motion of Mr.Browning, seconded by Mr.Apperson, it is resolved that all monthl~y
employees of the Count~ be paid on the 21st day of December, 1964.
On motion of ~[r.~'~artin, seconded by Rlr. Apperson, it is resolwed that this Board
gront a Variance to Mr.~eorge Harris to allow the construction of a hose on a
parcel of land fronting on a private road, off the Mt. Nebo Road, provided the home~
in which he presently lives will be razed and that ne~her he, his heirs or assigns
will have any claim? on the County for the construction of a road to this house.
