Purdy VIRGINIA: At an adjourned meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County, held at the Courthouse on February 25, 1970, at 2:00 P.M. Also Present: Mr. Morris Mason, Asst. Cpmm. Atty. Mr. Stan Balderson, Senior Planner On motion of Mr. Apperson, seconded by Mr. Purdy, it is resolved that the minutes of February 11, 1970, be and they hereby are approved. The Chairman recognizes the attendance of the Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Grades of the Matoaca Laboratory School. On motion of Mr. Apperson, seconded by Mr. Purdy, it is resolved that the following water contracts be and the same are hereby approved: C-642B Ecoff Street $10,000.00 W70-2CD Buxt°n, Phase I 11,981.03 on motion of Mr. Apperson, seconded by Mr. Purdy, it is resolved that the Chairman and Clerk be and 'they hereby are authorized to sign a contract with the L. and P. Land CorPoration for the installation of a water line on Ecoff Street. On motion of Mr. Apperson, seconded by Mr. Purdy, it is resolved that this Board approves in general, the arrangement with the State Highway Department'to blast the rock to the construction grade of Chippenham for the installation of a sewer.line underneath said road at the Falling Creek Bridge and authorizes the Engineer to work out the details of this arrangement. ~On motion of Mr. Dietsch, seconded by Mr. Browning, it is resolved that the County reimburse Mr. H. P. Brown, the developer of Forest Dale Subdivision, $1000.00 per connection on a sewer line installed on Dell Drive not to exceed seven (7) connec- 'tions. !~,Mr. Donald A. Stokes, representing Mr. and Mrs. Beckwith, comes before the Board re- questing the denial of the application of Mr. Hunter M. Crouch for a Variance on Lots 66 and 67 in the Cameron Farms Subd., to obtain a building permit on a road not ., acceptable to the State Highway Department. i Mr. Stokes pointed out that the road to serve the lots in question was only 25-ft ~ in width, that no additional right of way could be o~tained and that his client was making a sincere effort to acquire enough land in this area to re-subdivide said land in a better fashion. ~'Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr. Purdy, seconded by Mr. Apperson, it is resolved that the request of Mr. Crouch for a Variance on Lots 66 and 67 be ~ denied. 'On motion of Mr. Apperson, seconded by Mr. Purdy, it is resolved that the Chiefs of the Volunteer Fire Departments in the County of Chesterfield are hereby designated ~an official Advisory Commission to the County Fire Chief. On motion of Mr. Purdy, seconded by Mr. Apperson, it is resolved that the erroneous tax claim of Mr. Frederick L. Brown in the amount of $17.00 be and it hereby is approved for payment. il On motion of Mr. Apperson, seconded by Mr. Purdy, it is resolved that the following · game claims be and they hereby are approved for payment: Mrs. Forrest W. Hughes 6 rabbits ~ $3.00 each Lloyd Watkins 1 rabbit ~ $3.00 " Otto H. Loving, Jr. 5 rabbits ® $3.00 G. P. Trent 6 laying hens ® $1.50 " $18.00 3.00 15.00 9.00 On motion of Mr. Browning, seconded by Mr. Apperson, it is resolved that the County reimburse Mr. Oliver D. Rudy the sum of $60.22 which represents the amount paid Secretaries in his office from December 15 through 19, 1969 and disallowed by the State Compensation Board. ' i!On motion of Mr. Martin, seconded by Mr. Apperson, it is resolved that this Board .deny. the request of Mr. James D. Hundley to vacate a portion of the right of way of Bon View Drive, lying west of McRae Street. On motion of Mr. Browning, seconded by Mr. Martin, it is resolved that the request of the Public Utilities Commission of Arlington County concerning the appropriation of money to oppose the rate raise of the Virginia Electric & Power Company be re- ceived and held for further study. It is here noted that Mr. Dietsch and Mr. Purdy vote Nay. On motion of Mr. Martin, seconded by Mr. Apperson, it is resolved that Lynru Drive be changed to Murray Hill Drive in the Briarwood Subdivision in Midlothian District on application of the developer of this land. The Board took notice of the request of the Library Director to meet with the Board concerning the budget and instructed the Executive Secretary to set a date with the Library Board at the next public hearing. On motion of Mr. Dietsch, seconded by Mr. Martin, it is resolved that the Court Order authorizing the payment of $500.00 for the examination of the title to the Burleigh Tract cont~ing 211.69 acres, be and it hereby is approved for payment The County Engineer indicated that bids for sewer construction on a portion of Lan-~ cers Boulevard had been received on two or three occasions and in each case had been denied because the bids exceeded the estimates, and that it now was necessary for the sewers to be constructed. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr. Dietsch, seconded by Mr. Browning it is resolved that this project be re-advertised. ' On motion of Mr. Dietsch, seconded by Mr. Purdy, it is resolved that the Executive Secretary be requested to write the Richmond Jaycees commending this Organization on its program "Apple Jelly Sunday" for retarded children. On motion of Mr. Apperson, seconded by Mr. Martin, it is resolved that this Board adjourn at 4:20 P.M. until 9:00 A.M. on March 11, 1970. cutmve Secretary
