On motion of Mr. Apperson,seconded by Mr. Browning, it is resolved that the sum
of $1235.00 be appropriated to the amount already authorized for the completion
of the baseball fields at the Meadowbrook School.
It is requested that the $1000.00 received from the sale of timber be used for
this purpose and that the Athletic Association be requested to install the
backstops.

resolved that the request of the Bensley-Bermuda Rescue Squad for assistance
acquiring a crash truck under Section 402-Assistance Program~be and it hereby
is approved.
On motionof Mr. Apperson~seconded by. Mr. Dietsch~ it is resolved that the sum
of $20~192.00. be appropriated for capital expenditures in the Health Department
in the purchase of equipment under the Hill-Burton Program, which sum was in the
budget last year but not spent,
On motion of Mr. Apperson~seconded by Mr. Purdyt it is resolved that the following

On motion of Mr. Browning,seconded by Mr. Apperson~ it is resolved that this
Board request the Judge of Circuit Court~ the Honorable Ernest P.Gates, to
appoint Jimmy Loy Ownby as a Police Officer for the County of Chesterfield.
On motion of Mr. Apperson,seconded by Mr. Purdy, it is resolved that
sixty (60) copies of the new edition of "Police Crimes and Offenses and Motor
~ehicle Laws of Virginia"~ be purchased for the use of the Police ~partmen~
and Commonwealth's ktorney~ with the understanding that every attempt will
be made to purchase these books under a Federal Program.
This day the County Road Engineer in accordance with directions from this Board
made report in writing upon his examination of Westbury Drive in the subdivision
of Buckingham Manor~ Section "B, in Midlothian Magisterial District.
Upon consideration whereof~ and on motion of Mr.Martin, it is resolved that
Westbury Drive in the subdivision of Buckingham Manor~ Section ~'B", Midlothian
District, be and it hereby is established as a public road.
And be it further resolved~ that the Virginia Department of Highways be and it
hereby is requested to take into the Secondy System, Westbury Drive, from its
if intersection with Rt,667, southwardly .15 of a mile. This road serves 2 houses.

On motion of Mr. Purdy,seconded by hr. Apperson~ it is resolved that at the
request of the Virginia Polytecnhic Institute-Extension Servicer the Board
approves the appointment of Mrs. Ella H. Rice as Extension Agent to fill the
vacancy created by the retirement of Mrs. Ann Confer.
On motion of Mr. Dietsch~seconded by Mr. Apperson, it is resolved that s street
light be authorized for~he intersection of Banton Street and Space Road; Laudeen
Drive and Grahamwood Drive and that the following light requests be re~erred to
the Street Light Committee:

Oxbridge Road and Rt.360
On motion of Mr. Apperson,seconded by Mr. ~etsch~ it is resolved that the sum
of $10~126.00 be transferred from 71-310-105.0-Supervisory Personnel~ to
71-310-10g.3-Foremen, in the 1970-'71 Planned Budget.
On motion of Mr. Apperson~seconded by Mr. Purdy, it is resolved that the ~ollowin~
changes be made in the 1970-'71 budget to permit Data Processing to plan and
implement procedures beginning November 1~ ~70 for studeny scheduling in four
schools for the School year 1971-'72~

On motion of Mr. kpperson~seconded by Mr. Purdy~ it is resolved that a bid for
the construction of a chain link fence at the Fair grounds be awarded to the
U.S. Steel Corporation who submitted the low bid of $4115.00.
On motion of ~ir. Browning, seconded by Mr. Purdy, it is resolved that the sum
of $764.79 be paid for the Title searched~ insurance and recordation fee on
the e56.97 acre tract of land purchased from Frank W. Quaiff~ et als.
It is here noted that Mr. Apperson votes No.
On motion of Mr. Purdy~ seconded by Mr. Apperson, it is resolved that tPe su~
of $85.00 be paid for the examination and recordation of Wilda Moore Preston~
et als deed~ purchased for the Brighton Green lagoon.
On motion of Mr. Apperson~seconded by Mr.Martin~ it is resolved that the salary
of Mr. Homer Wingfield~ Deputy Commissioner of the Revenue~ be increased from
$6600.00 to $7600.00 as of January 1, 1971~ provided the State Compensa3kion Board
agrees to this increase.
On motion of Mr. Apperson~ seconded by Mr. Purdy~ it is resolved that Mr. Robert
Eanes~ the County's Fire Chief be and he hereby is appointed Civil Defense
Coordinator.
It was cited by the Executive Secretary that the City of ~chmond had not paid
to the County of Chesterfield any part of the tuition cost of educating City
children in County schools for the current fiscal year.
Upon consideration whereof~ and on motion of Mr. Purdy,seconded by Mr. Apperson,
it is resolved that a bill be sent to the City monthly to cover the City's part
of this expense.
On motion of Mr. Browning~ seconded by Mr. Purdy~ it is resolved that this Board
bill the City of Colonial Heights quarterly for its share in the expense of the
Health and Welfare Departments.
It is understood that the bill for the final quarter in each fiscal year would
show the audited amounts spent with a complete accounting for the fiscal year.
On motion of Mr.Apperson,seconded by Mr.Purdy, it is resolved that bill for the
membership dues in the Virginia Association of Counties be paid~ and that the
sum of $700.19 be transferred from the unappropriated surplus of the County
to Item 11-011-206,
On motion of Mr. Purdy~seconded by ['~r. Apperson, it is resolved that the County
Engineer be authorized to install a water line on Gettings Lane with the under-
standing that all water users be required to connect to the new water line.
On motion of Mr. Dietsch, seconded by Mr. Browning~ it is resolved that this
Board adjourns at 10:45 P.M. to 9:00 A.M. on December 9, 1970.
