VIRGINIA: At an adjourned meeting of the
Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield
County~ held at the Courthouse on April 19~
1971 at 7:00

Bids on the fire engine were again presented and after considerable discussion,
it is on motion of Mr.~urdy~ seconded by Mr.Martin~ resolved that the low bid
for a 1500-gpm pumper with no high pressure be purchased for the Midlothian
Volunteer Fire Department.
It is here noted that Mt.Homer and Mr. Apperson abstain from voting.
it was generally agreed that further consideration would be given to the bids
for the Dale Volunteer Fire truck.
Mr. Angus Powell and Mr. Tom Barnes present plans for a new plant on Rt.360
at Swift Creek and cited to the Board that under the present (M) zoning of this
tract of land, it is his responsibility to present plans and layout for the
approval of the Board. Upon consideration of the plans for the new Curtis
"1000" Printing Company~ it is resolved on motion of Mr.Apperson~seconded by ~
Mr. Dietsch~ that this building ~be approved for construction.
It is further resolved, that the Executive Secretary work with the County
Engineer and the Health Department in working out the details of the sewer and
watere

There was presented the Virginia College Work-Study Program, whereby College
students in the area could work in their fields of interest in a governmental'
subsidized program. On motion of Mr. Dietsch,seconded by Mr.Apperson~ it is
resolved that the Executive Secretary be allowed to hire up to ten (10) students
in various offices at the Courthouse for the ten (t0) weeks of the program.
On motion of Mr. Dietsch, seconded by Mr. Browning~ it is resolved that this
Board of Supervisors grants the Virginia Highway Department the right to use
the strip of land dedicated to the County of Chesterfield as shown on plans
entitled Project 653-020-030 from Station 70 to Station 91 for the widening
of Route 653 North of Route 360~ provided the utilities on said strip be
relocated at no expense to the County and the County be saved harmless from
any future utility costs on this strip of land.
On motion of Mr. Purdy~seconded by Mr. Apperson, it is resolved that this Board
adjourns at 12:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on April 28~ 1971.
