of the Fire Association for adeguate signs at the Courthouse be and it hereb~ is
referred ~e the Buildings ~ ~ ~ _~ a~u Grounds Committee.
On moticn of i~.Goyne, seconded by ?dr. Driski!l, it is ~'esolver] theft this Board
acsepts for recordaU~on the deed for the extension of Boyd f~treet, running nortbz~ar~lly
into property belon~ing to the Thompson v

On motiCn of ~.~r..Goyne, seconded by I?[r. Hag'ue, it is resolved that due to the complaints
received from the citizens of the area, this Board requests the Highway Department
to improve the ~,resent condition at the intersection of Rts. 618 a~d 619, at the
Enon Baptist Church. It being understood that .at this location school buses
and other vehicular traffic experienced great Bazards turning into Rt. 61~.
On motion of Mr. Britton, seco=~ed by ~r.Hague, it is resolved that the ~curt Order
authorizing the sum of ~10~.00 be ~id to ~r. Fred A.Crowder for examing the title
to the parcel of land owned by the Richmond-Petersburg Turnpike Authority and
purchased by the County of Chesterfield be received, and same is ordered paid.
There was read a letter from the Old Gun Estate, s Civic Association thanking Mr.
Driskill and the Board for their efforts in getting the streets in t~.e Old Gun
Estates paved.
On motion of Mr.Goyne, seconded by Mr.Hagerman~ it is resolved that the request
of the County assessor to up-grade the scale cf the Assessors in theCounty be and
it hereby ia approved.
On motion of ~J~r. Britton, seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is re'solved that a Variance
be granted ~to~R'~.Robt. L.Schutte for the construction of a dwelling on a parcel
of land at the western end of Media Road, provided it be thoroughly understood
that the County has no responsibility for constructing Media Road now or in the
future and that the Building permit be so marked.
On motion of Mr.Britton, seconded by Mr. Hagerman, it is resolved '~hat this Board
furnish tax maps for the Health Department to further coordinate our efforts in
percolation evaluation of subdivision lots.
On motion of~r~ .Goyne, seconded by ~'~r. Britton, it is resolved that the reouest
for an additional appropriation of ~600.00 for sa]aries of temporary.empl6yees
and other transfers of money by the Treasurer be and it hereby is approved.
On motion of i~]r. Britton, seconded by ~'~r. Hagerman, it is resolved that the recuest
of the Treasurer to purchase office furniture to the extent of ~288.50 be an~ it
hereby is approved.

On me,ion of I'.'~r.Britton, seconded by Mr. Goyne, it ~s resolved that this Board
grant a building permit to James A.Adams on .69 ac~es' of land on the Centralia
Road, sold by Mr.S.E.Ficke, provided an easement of 18-feet be given for the
installation of utilities and the future widening of this road.
k.'r. Luther Roane comes before the Board discussing bis drair~ge problems on the
the eastern end of Beechnut Avemue, and it was generally agree6 that this matter be
deferred to November 14, 1962~ at 10:00 a.m.
On motion of kr.Britton, seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that the request
to take in Derrymore and Bolton Roads in the Clinton Court Subdivision, be
deferred until such time as the depth of the water line can be ascertained and the
cost of repairing this line be paid by the Subdivider.
This day the County Road 'Engineer in accordance with directions from this Board
marne report in wr'iting upon his examination of Sunview Lane, in the Re-Subdivision

established as a public road.
Upon consideration whereof~ and on motion of Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that
Sunview Lane in the re-subdivision of Sunset -~[ills [v]anor, Section "A" M~dlothian
District, be, and it hereby is established as a puhlic road. ' -
And be it further resolved that the Virginia Department of Highways, be, and it

The salary requests of the Treasurer, Commonwealth's attorney, Sheriff, and the
Commissioner of the R. evenue, were presented to the Board. Upon consideration

consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr.Goyne, seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is

On mozion of ~'~r.BDitton, seconded by Mr. OrisKz_l, it is resolved that the firm
of E.G.Bowles,Construction Sompany, be, and it hereby is awarded contract No.
6102-9, which firm submitted the low bid of ~71,997.20 for the construction of
sewer mains in the Grindall Creek area.
On motion of Mr.Britton, seconded by l~ir. Hague, it is resolvea that this Board
request s the Highway Department to repair the roads torn up by nhe installation
of sewer mains on convracts numbered 6102-9, 6102-7.~2, and 6102-8B.
On motion of Mr. Goyne, seconded by Mt. Hague, it is resolved than this Board approves
an Agreement between the Seaboard Airline RR. and the County of Chesterfield for
the installation of sewer mains under said Railroad, near Bellwood and the Chairman
and Cle~ of this ~oard be and they hereby are authorized to sign said ,~greement.
On motion of I~r. Driskill, seconded by [~[r.Goyne, it is resolved that the following
street names be and they hereby are changed:
Salisbury Roe' ~o 'lest Salisbury Road.
South Starcross !toad to Starcross Road.
On motion of I';ir.Goyne, seconde¢~ by ~.Ha~ue, it is resolved that this Board
accepvs the sewer easement purchased from ~,[r. Willie Thomas on properly fronting
on the south side ef ~'illis Road.
Mr. l',larshall Dris~ilt presents Lhe recommendations from the Ordinance Committee
that the Bus,ness and Pro.fessioral License Tax oe enacted by zne County of
Chesterfield Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr. Driskill~ seconded
by ~'~r.Britton, it is resolved 'that an Ordinance vo amend the Code of the County
of Chesterfield, ~lirgimir~, by repealing Cb~ap~er 5 there:of, and vo adopv in lieu
thereof a new ]ha~ter ~i, p~ovi~in~ for the ~m~osi'01o~ ~f li.:.~rt~ ~.a:~,~s for each

On motion of Mr. britton, seconded by I~%r'.Driskiti, it is resolved thaz Section
15-33 of vhe Code of the County of Chest~erfield, Virginia, be ~nd it hereby is
repealed.
The Chairman appoints the entire Board as a Committee with Mr.Britton as a
Chairman to study She oresent budget ~o ascertain what expenditures can be
deferred and to contact the School Board in an effort to reduce the expenditures,
provided it would nov reduce the educational level of the County.
