Summary of Actions Taken by the Board on September 27, 2017
3:00 P.M. SESSION
WORK SESSIONS
Mr. Kevin Bruny shared information with the Board of Supervisors relative to the Mentoring
Pilot Program which recently was recognized with NACo and VACo awards.
A work session was held to update the Board of Supervisors on sports tourism and other
tourism-related activities in Chesterfield County and the surrounding region.
A work session was held to update the Board of Supervisors on activities of the Virginia
Department of Transportation.
A work session was held to update the Board of Supervisors on the FY2019 budget outlook.
A work session was held to update the Board of Supervisors on the purchase of land for
Winterpock Regional Park.
A work session was held to update the Board of Supervisors on the on-going initiatives of the
Social Services Board.
REPORTS
Accepted
Report of Planning Commission Substantial Accord Determination for
Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation (Case 17PD0262) to permit a
regional park in an Agricultural (A) District located in the Mataoca
District (Winterpock Regional Park).
CITIZEN COMMENT PERIOD
Mr. Dustin Wade expressed concerns relative to speeding on Wimbledon Drive.
Mr. George Houston, Mr. Robert Schrum, Mr. Kenneth Peagler and Ms. Cathie Richardson
urged the Board to place and maintain a street sign at the intersection of Miller and Baldwin
Roads and bring Miller Road up to current VDOT street specifications.

The Honorable Steve Elswick gave the invocation.
Chief Edward L. Senter, Jr. led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of
America.
COUNTY ADMINISTRATION UPDATE
Dr. Casey recognized Mr. Barry Condrey and Ms. Kiva Rogers and congratulated them for
receiving the Governor’s Technology Award in the “Innovation in Local Government”
category at the Commonwealth of Virginia Innovative Technology Symposium conference.
Mr. Charlie Grant, Executive Director of Henricus Historical Park presented an update to the
Board of Supervisors relative to activities at Henricus.
Dr. Casey announced on September 9, more than 750 volunteers showed up to clean up James
River and its shorelines during the annual James River Regional Cleanup.
Dr. Casey announced on September 23, Chesterfield County participated in Give a Day RVA
projects at Pocahontas Park and Swift Creek Shoreline, organized by HandsOn Greater
Richmond.
