Casey Summary of Actions Taken by the Board on December 13, 2017 3:00 P.M. SESSION WORK SESSIONS Mr. George Hayes recognized Utilities employees Mr. Bill Truesdale, Mr. Franklin White and Mr. Rex Shults who provided excellent customer service earlier this year to resident Maj. Gen. Don Gardner (Retired), who wrote a letter honoring their good work. Dr. Casey announced last week the Governor appointed Mr. Rick Witt to serve as the Chair of the State Building Code Technical Review Board. A work session was held to present information relative to the Human Resources Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2017 to the Board of Supervisors. A work session was held to update the Board of Supervisors on the Parks and Recreation Departmental Draft Comprehensive Master Plan. A work session was held to update the Board of Supervisors regarding the newly created Citizen Information and Resources Department. A work session was held to update the Board of Supervisors regarding the Fire and EMS Mobile Integrated Healthcare Program. 6:00 P.M. SESSION The Honorable Chris Winslow gave the invocation. Eagle Scout Samuel Garbera led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America. COUNTY ADMINISTRATION UPDATE Ms. Marie Ringer, Shareholder of Dale Carnegie and Associates, and granddaughter of Dale Carnegie, and Mr. J.J. White, Chief Engagement Officer of Dale Carnegie of Virginia, presented the 2017 Dale Carnegie’s Global Leadership Award to the Board of Supervisors. 1  Dr. Casey introduced Mr. Jeffrey S. Katz as the county’s next Chief of Police, who is starting January 2, 2018. Confirmed Selection of Mr. Jeffrey Katz as Chief of Police for Chesterfield County.  Dr. Casey announced Drug Czar, Richard Baum, Acting Director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy made a visit to the county’s Heroin Addiction Recovery Program on November 17.  Dr. Casey announced members of the Chesterfield/Colonial Heights Christmas Mother are working diligently to prepare a Christmas celebration for many children and families in the community. RESOLUTIONS AND SPECIAL RECOGNITIONS Adopted Resolution recognizing Battalion Chief David Palumbo (Retired) for his dedication to constructing the Fire and Emergency Medical Service Memorial Wall. Mr. Steve Atkinson expressed his objections relative to the proposed Matoaca rezoning case. Mr. Gary Metzinger expressed his objections relative to the proposed Matoaca rezoning case, specifically the project’s placement and lack of county communication. Ms. Gina Brown expressed concerns relative to the proposed Matoaca rezoning case and the allowance of heavy industrial zoning adjacent to residential or proposed residential areas.
