This day ~he CountyRoa~ Engineer in accordance with directions from this Board made report in writing upon his examination of Treely Road in Treeland Heights in Bermuda Magisterial District, which report shows that in the opinion of the County Road Engineer it is expedient that said road be established as a public road. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr.Goyne, it is resolved that Tre~y Road in the Treeland Heights Subdivision, Bermuda District, be, and it hereby is established as a public road. And be it further resolved, that the Virginia Department o~ Highways be and it hereby is requested to take into the Secondary Road System, Treely Road, from a point onRt.144, 1.13 miles southeast of Rt.706, .46 of a mile northwestwardly to a turn-around. This road serves 4 houses. And be it further resolved, that the Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County guarantees a right of wqy of not less than 50 feet to the Virgini~ Department of Highways for this road. Dediaation of said right of way recorded in Plat Book 9, Page 129, Chesterfield Court House, Virginia. This day the County Road Engineer in accordance ~rith directions from this Board made report in ~riting upon his examination of Creek Rock Lane ~nd a Cul-de sac in theRock Creek ParkSubdivision, Section B, Midlothian Magisterial District, which report shows that in the opinion of the County Road Engineer it is expedient that said roads be established as public roads. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of ~!r.Driskill~ it is resolved that Creek Rock Lan~ and a Cul de sac in the RockCreek Park Subdivision, Section B, Midlothian District, be, and they hereby are established as public roads. And be it further resolved that the VirginiaDepartment of Highways be and it hereby is requested to take into the Secondary Road System, Creek Rock Lane, from the eastern end of Rt.1764,.17 of a mile northeast to a turn-around, a Cul-de-sac from the eastern end of Rt.1764, .02 of emile southwestwardly to a turn around. These roads serve 3 houses. And bait further resolved that the Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County guarantees a right of way of not less than 50 feet to the Virginia Department of Highways for these roads. Dedication of said rights of way recorded in Plat Book 9, Page 132~ Chesterfield Court House, Virginia. This day the request ofthe Sheriff of the County to the Compensation Board for salaries and expenses for the year 1960 was presented to the Board. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr. Driskill, seconded by Mr. Hague, it is resolved that this Board recommends to the Compensation $oard that the salary fdr the Sheriff of the 8ounty be set at the maximum allowed as provided by law and that normal increases for the deputies are recommended in lieu of the requested increases. This day the requests of the Commonwealth's A.~torney and assistances were discu~ed by the Board. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr.Driskill, seconded by Mr.Britton, it is resolved that this Board recommends to the Compensation Board that the request of the Commonwealth's Attorney be approved. This day a letter from Mrs. John B. Long thanking the Board for its considera~tion of fire hydrants at the Bon Air Elementary School was received and filed. ~On motion of Mt. Hague, seconded by Mr.Britton, it is resolved that the County accepD the settlement of $~lO0.O0 for a wrecked police car from the Nationwide Insurance Company. On motion of Mr.Driskill, seconded by Mr. Britton, it is resolved that this Board recommends to the Judge of the Circuit Court the Honorable William Old, the appointment of Raymond Douglas Adkins as Police Office for Chesterfield County. And be it further resolved that Ernest Merlin O~Neill be appointed as Police Dispatcher. On motion of Mr.Hague, seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that the sum of $200.OObe given to the Welfare Department for Christmas baskets. On motion of Mr. Driskill, secOnded by'Mr,Hague, it is resolved that the appropriation or'Capital Outlays for the School Board, the same being Item 19 be increased 20~000 for the month of December, 1959. On motion of Mr. Driskill, seconded by Mr. Britton, it isresolved that the County Engineer be and he hereby is authorized to install an 8" line on "B" Street from Belleau Drive to Logan Street. On motion of Mr.Hague, seconded by Mr. Driskill, Be it Resolved: That the Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County doth determine that it is necessary and expedi ant fbm~.the construction, operation and maintenance of Cogbill Road. a public road in Chesterfield County, Virginia, to acquire the right, privilege and perpetual easement and right of way over and through the lands of Old Dominion Real Estate Company, a corporation, in Dale Magisterial District, Chesterfield County, Virginia, fifteen {15} feet in width and running back in a southerly direction from the south side Of Cogbill Road, a distance of 400 feet, th~ said easement being shown and described on a certain plat entitled" Plan Showing 15 Feet Drainage Easement,beginning on the South side ef Cog~ill Road. Located in Dale District, Chesterfield County, Virginia", made by Engineering Department, CheSterfield County, Virginia, dated October 8, 1959. That the said ea~sement to be acquired is necessary for the construction, re- construction, maintenance and operation of a public drainage ditch for the drainage of surface and storm waters, together with the right and privilege to in~tall pipe, pies, culverts and drains, catch basins or manholes, together with the right of ingress and egress thereto and therefrom to inspect, repair, clean out and maintain and the ~. further right to remove t~ees, bushes, undergrowthand other obstructions interfering with the location, construction and maintenance of said ditch, and that the said County has made a bonafide but ineffectual effort to acquire the said easement from the owner thereof by purchase, but that the Board has been unable to purchase said interest for the total sum o£ $10.00 from the said Old Dominion Real Estate Company, a corporation; the said sum of $10.00 being, in the opinion of the said Board, just compensation for the said easement taken and the damages, if any, resulting to the adjacent and other property of the said owner and to the property of any other person beyond the puculiar benefits that will accrue to such properties, respectively, from the construction, operation and maintenance of CogbiI1 Road, a public road. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Commonwealth's Attorney of this County is authorized to institute the necessary proceedings on behalf of the County to acquire said interest in said land by the exercise of the right of eminent domain and to represent the Board if the landowner contests the manner of said taking and the Chairman of this Board is authorized and empowered to execute any and all papers necessary to accomplish the purposes of this resolution.
