On motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that this Board request the Highway Department to improve 250 feet of Eozy Lane, at a cost not to e~ceed $300.00, same to be paid from the 3¢ Road Fund of the County. A letter was read ~rom the Highway Department citing the fact that the requested study of the drainage on Hopkins Road, Rt.637 is tentatively set up as a Federal Aid Project, to be constructed with Federal Funds in the near future. This day the County Road Engineer in accordance with directions from this Board made report in writing uppn his examination of Fair Pines Road in the Land-O- Pines Subdivision, in D~le Magisterial District, which report shows that in the opinion of the County Road Engineer it is expedient that said road be established as a public road. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion~of Mt. Hague, it is resolved that Fair Pinas Road in the Land-O-Pines Subdivision, Dale District, District, wh~ich report shows that in the opinion of 'the County Road Engineer it is expedient that said road be established as a public road. Chief Farmer of the Fire Dep~rtment of the City of Petersburg, comes before the Board citing the [1e~ed for a trained man to aid in the fire training of the various volunteer fire depqrtmen~s, the inspection of the schools for fire prevention and the training of school children in fire alarm drills. And stated further that the State would possibly pay one-half of the salary of such a fire prevention employee. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr.Hague~ seconded by Mr.Driskill, it is resolved that this request be referred to the Safety Committee of the Board for further study and a report. The Board thanked !Chief Farmer for his interest in the matter and for bringing this t~ our attention. On motion of Ma~.Britton, seconded by Mr.Driskiil, it is resolved that the County Engineer be and he hereby is authorized to purchase~meter testing equipment for testing the water meters of the County. The Chairman appoints a Committee of ~r. Britton, Mr.Horner, Mr. Gates, Mr. Painter .and Mr. Burnett to confer with the City of Richmond concerning the proposed contract for water services. On motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that the Cou~nty Engineer be and he hereby is authorized to extend the water line along Salem Street, approximately 300 feet to allow Mr. Nowitsky to install his meter on the adjacent property provided Mr. Nowitsky pays for the water lines on Salem Street and be responsible for an easement for his water meter. R.R.Adkins again comes before the Board requesting the rezoning from Agriculture to General Business of a parcel of land fronting 210 feet on the Adkins Road and 210 feet on the Arch Road and extending southwardly 216 feet , said parcel being at the Junction of said two roads, which request was first heard on December 9, 1959, and deferred for 60-days, and Whereas, Mr.Adkins has no plans for the immediate development of this propertw, it is on motion of Mr. Driskill, seconded by Mm.Britton, resolved ~hat this matter again be deferred for 90 Says to allow Mr. Adkins time for further planning of the ar ea. Mr. Robert Jett comes before the Board seeking a Variance in the subdivision ordinance to allow the construction of a home on Lot 12. Block C, of the Plan of East Grandview developed by Mr. George Gregory and unrecorded, said lot frontinE on Hathaway Drive, presently unconstructed. On motion of Y~.Britton, ~secor~ed by ~ague, it is resolved that this Board grant the vari@nce to allow the construction of a home on said lot, fronting 80 feet on Hathaway Drive, provided the owners construct Hathaway Drive to meet the minimum soecifications of the State Highway Department and subject to the approval of the Health Department, the Building Inspector, and the Executive Secretary. On motion of Mr. Goyne, seconded by Mr. Hague, it is resolved that this Board grant a variance to Mr. Linwood Si. Clair to allow the location of a trailer on Lots 8, 9, 10 and 11, of Block 8, in the subdivision of Belmead, said lots composing an aoproximate square footage of 13,000. On motion of ~tr. I~w.Ed Hawks,Civil Defense Coordinator, spears before the Board citing the fact that }~[r. Polhemus, Capt. of the Civil Defense Police Auxiliary, wishes to use a radio on his 'private car. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr. Driskill, seconded by b~r.Britton, it is resolved that this n~tter be studied along with the administrative of Civil Defense for the County ~£ Chesterfield. On motion of Mr. Driskill, seconded by Mr. Britton, it is resolved that ~]r.L.A. Williams, be;and he hereby is requested to take off of the County's radio system, the radio presently being used on his private car, due to the FCC regulations as stated in 10.15~ of said Code.
