E.P.Garrigan comes before the Board citing the ~ct that he has obtained sewer easements in the Cherokee Hills Subdivision and wishes to install sewer lines to approximately 23 lots and requests the County to allow him to install said sewers and conne ct same to the s~wage treatment plant in Kenmore Ridge. On motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that this request be studied by the County Engineer and that the Commonwealth's Attorney ber~ues~ed to prepare a contract between the developers and the County of 'Chest erfield to allow the construction of the requested sewer lines. Lew Shirley, from the Hopewell Chamber of Commerce, requesting that the following resolution be passed by the County of Chesterfield and stating the fact that no charge would be made by the State for such a survey. On motion of Mr. Goyne, seconded by Mr.Hague, it is resolved that Chesterfield County hereby requests the Commissioner of Are~ Development, State of Virginia, ~o conduct an area development survey of the following part of Chesterfield County, lying east of Route 301, south of Highway 615 and north of Highway 619 extended to its intersection with the Appomattox River. On motion of M~.Driskill, seconded by Mr.Britton, it is resolved that this Board request the Highway Department to study the intersection of Weymouth Drive and Bannister Lane in the Subdivision of Wayland to ascertain the proper sign that should be installed to minimize the traffic hazard at this intsrsection. Mr. H.T.Goyne presents to the Board n~merous ~titions from the citizens in the Chester area requesting guard rails be installed on the Bridge on Rt. 10 over the Atlantic Coast Line tracks. Whereas, on numerous occasions the Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County, Virginia, has requested the Highway Department to install Stop light or lights at the intersection of Rt~. 10 and 1; and ~ereas, the intersection is judged by all citizens traveling said roads to be extremely hazardous, since the median strip is not wide enough for one car to park with safety, it is necessary for the person crossing Rt. 1 to have both lines of traffic clear before attempting to cross; and, ~fnereas, numerous near-accidents have been aarrowly averted of recent days, one in particular involving a loaded schooI bus; and, Whereas, this Board com~res this intersection with the inter~ction of~.Varwick Road, and Rt.360 on which numerous requests were turned down until a fatal accident occurred~ It is on motion Of Mr. Goyne, seconded by ~tr. Hague, resolved that this Board reiterate in the sbrongest possible language a request for a stop light or lights at the intersection of Rts. 1 a~ 10, and the Board states that it kno%~ of no reason or excuse why this light should not be installed. ~. Stuart Schmidt comes before the Board ~seeking a variance from the building requirements to allow the sale of three lots on the Menokin Road and two lot s on the Shirley Road, all dedicated rights of way maintained by the Highway Department and with water lir~ s in place. Upon consideration whereof~; and on motion of Mr.Britton,seconded by ~k-.Driskill, it is resolved that this Board approve the variance from the subdivision requirements Rnd allow the sale of these five lots; and, Be it Further Resolved, that the Building Inspector be and he hereby is authorized to issue building permits on said lots, all as shown on plats recorded with the Board ' s papers. Mr. John Holt comes before the Board requesting the vacation of an easement between Ashbury Road and Rt. 147 in the subdivision of Woodmont, Section C, and it was generally agreed that Mr.Holt bare the legal representatives of the applicant prepare the proper papers for this vacation. Hague, seconded by Mr.Oritton, it is resolved that this Board grant a variance to ~.~illiam Benton for the division of approximately 4-acres at the northern end of Down!and Road and to allow the sale of the northern 2 lots on a 20-foot easement of access, as shown on a plat recorded with the Board's papers. On' motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by Mr.Driskill, it is resolved that this Board authorize the County Engineer to reconstruct the drainage fields on lots fronting on Jahnke Road which drainage fields conflict with the location of the 20" water line being installs d, or to run s@id sewage lines to the County sewer in the center of Jahnke Road, whichever is the most advantageous to the County. Mr. Harry C.~hitlock comes before the Board requesting the rezoning from Residential-? to General Business of a p~rcel of ].and in Manchester Magisterial District, fronting 220 feet on Rt. 161 and extending 200 feet southwardly along the eastern line of Brandon Road, s aid parcel being Lots !, and 2, Block C, of the Green Acres Subdivision. And cites the fact that the Board of Supervisors on April 13, 1960, did rezone this property to General Business but improper notice was given some of the adjoining property owners, therefore, the property was re-advertised and !e~al notice sent to all parties and there appearin~ no opposition to this request, it is on motion of Mr. Britton, ~econded by Mr. Driskill~ resolved that the aforedescribed parcel of land be and it h~reby is rezoned for General Business purposes. Gordon, representing Mrs.R.H.Meador comes before the Board seeking the rezoning of a parcel of land in Midlothian Magisterial District from Residential -1 to General Business fronting 100 feet on Buford Street and extending eastwardly 190 feet along the north line of Choctaw Road.. Mr. S. C.Peck, representing the Bon Air Baptist 'Church states that they do not oppose this rezoning, but requests that no service station be allowed on this s~te.
