Thomas, owner of a parcel of land between ?~aldor Drive at the south~rn end of ;oodmere ~rive, comes before the ~oard citing the fact that the citizens of the Subdivision of Dorchester and Kichae! Height, s did no~ want Woodmere Drive exvended to ~'aldor ~rive, as vhe Board of Sup=~visa~'s had proposed by motion on June 22, 1961. 'fhat Mr. Thomas had obtained a Ouilding permit and is presently constructing a ~ome on said right of way. Col. }~iizetl presented a signed statement from al..proximate!y 25 citizens of the area objecting to Cbc extension of ?7oodmere i~r~.ve and ::here appe= ~ .~=a~ ~o- of approximately 10 ~eople to su~::l, ort the o[jections of the extension of this stre~ in ~b= ...... area. Upon consideration ~"ne~'~'=o~.'~, an~ on :,~otion of ~,ir~.Britton,, seconded by ~,~.Goyne, it is resolved that the action of the Board ,'~'_.: ~. On motion of itr.Goyne, seconded by R.r. Ha;~ue, it is resolved that 'd'fi_s Board grant a Varianc~ to Trooner Kenneth Id. Sullivan to allow the construction :f a dwelling on a parcel or land fronting 1OO feet on Rt.609, adjacent to his ~.resent .home, provided Trooper Sullivan ~:ives to the County of Chest, er'field a deed showittg a !6-ft. widening strip on ail of his property on 2t.609. tt is here noted that Rr. Norner votes "No". Trooper' Sullivan states that vrithin 6~ to 90 days that he will bring up to State?s specifications the road in Dalewood Subdivision, which he bad ?re~/iously agreed to im'~rove bus had not completed. }.ir..Ridley and !dr.ldarks come before the f~oard to again discuss the drainage on Third Avenue in Ettrick. Nm.Marks does not wish to grant an easement acr~s the rear of .;;is property for a proposed drainage ditch, citing various reasons for bis position, f,.f~er much discussion of this ratter, and on motion of Nr. Hagerman, seconded by N[r. Goyne, it is resolved that the County Engineers meet', with Y[r. Narks on the site in an atzem?t to arrive at a solution that would be beneficial to all of tzhe citizens in the area. On motion of"'r'V' .Britton, seconded by I'-ir.,Hagerman, it is resolved tha'c th:is Board approve a request of the School Board~ which resuest is by resolution dated June 28, 1961, and request,,the Treasurer of the County to transfer within the S~hool Planned Budget, the following amounts:: From Category 17A to Category lTD1 the sum of From Category 17F to Category 17D3 the sum of From Category 17F to Category 17El the sum of From Category 17F to Category 17E2 the sum of ~642.94 83.52 7067.83 5747.23 On motion of ~Ir. Hague, seconded by ~:ir.Britton, it is resolved that the Treasurer of the County be and he here~y is recuested to transfer from the unextended surplus of the County, the sum of ~700.O0 to 'Item 8; $1500.O0 to Item 14 and :$29,000.00 to Item 19. On motion of Flr.Britton, seconded by Mr.Hague, Garden .Road is requested to be taken into the State S~condary SyStem. This day the County Road Engineer in accordance with directions from this Bcar~d made report in writing upon his examination of Garden Road in the Twin Valley Farms Subdivision, Section B, in ~idlothian Nagisterial District, which shows that in the opinion of the County koad Engine ~r it is expedient that said road be established as a public road. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Y~r. Britton, it is resolved that Garden Road in the Twin Valley ~.'a~m= Subdivisbn, Section B, in TM .... ...... ~dlot?zan District, se, and the same is hereby established as a public roaC. And be it further resolved, that the Virginia Dep2rtment of High~ays~ be,. and~ it hereby is requested to take into the Secondary Road System of ~hesterflei~ County, Garden Road, at the intersection with Merrimac Road .35 of a mile northwardly to the southern end of ~.pache ~oad (!kt. 1776). This is a connecting road. And be it further resolved, that t~a Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County guarnat ees to the Virginia Department of Highways, right of way of not less than 50 feet for this road. Dedication of said right of way in Plat Book 10, Pages 103 and 10~, Chesterfield COurthouse, Virginia. On motion of Mr. Hagerman, seconded by Mr.Britton, it is resolved that the employees of Chesterfield County b~ given holiday on July 3, 1961, since Armed Forces Day (November 1!) of this y~ar falls on a Saturday and County employees will not be able to enjoy same.
